Polar Express

Since this is the Into thread,

Hello, I'm new here.  Found my way here via a link from another (wider focus, yet very respectful forum) and wanted to thank the mods for hosting this, and allowing us the opportunity to join and participate in your forum.

What brought me here?
While I'm normally a 1911/.45acp fan for a number of reasons:  Mostly I love how the platform fits and feels in my hand,  But I'm really interested in a 10mm for 'woods' carry.  The round itself appears to have so much possibility, with it's 'normal' traits, I'm really looking forward to learning more.

Welcome Polar Express!  Quite a few 1911 platforms are available in the versatile 10mm Auto cartridge.

I have been lurking around here for about a month or so and thought I should introduce myself.  I am from Minnesota and just bought my first 10mm in December.  So far I absolutely love my G20C.  I own several handguns and until now, all have been sub-compact guns that served as concealed carry sidearms.  I decided to get a G20 due to its versatility.  It makes a great home/personal defense gun, can be used to hunt deer and is just plain fun to shoot.

I have had the gun at the range a few times and find it just plain hard to put down.  I have shot mostly 180 gr. Remington UMC's, but have also fired a few rounds of 180 gr. Hornady XTP's and 200gr. DoubleTap Noslers.  All have fired great from the stock gun.  I have since purchased some 165 gr. Underwood XTP's and look forward to seeing what all the talk is about.  I'm keeping my eyes open for some 200gr. Underwood or PBR Premium XTP's to use for deer hunting.

Since my last time to the range, I have acquired a couple of aftermarket parts to try out.  With plans of using this gun to hunt deer, I decided to get a 6" KKM barrel.  I also bought fiber optic, adjustable sights from Dawson Precision.  I have a Super Slide holster on order from Crossbreed that should be arriving soon.  Can't wait to get back out and try it all out.

Welcome and congrats!  That should serve your needs well!  But now you have a dilemma?  ??? What will be your next 10mm!  :o

Best regards!

I already hear voices that are urging me to trade my G26 for a G29!

Ugh, got a good deal on an SKS the other day, but had one of those mags.

I would trade it off in a heartbeat for a stock 10rd mag. :-X

Hey all. New owner of a glock 20 c. Had a S&W 13-2 357 mag but was tired of having to shoot .38's so I wouldn't hurt it. So I upgraded to a glock 20. Oh how I love magazines.

Love magazines?  You need some of these for your SKS......

I've had to "adjust" the lips on a few of them.  Don't be so easily discouraged.  Usually, a good cleaning is all that's needed (acetone or brake cleaner).  One I got was actually dripping with cosmoline, supposedely an on-shore model of recent production.

Hello just thought I'd post a quick intro as I recently purchased a Glock 20.  This is primarily for protection of my home and family.  I broke down and bought a firearm.  Although I own >10 I keep at my dad's house.  I'm young 30s who grew up hunting but hasn't shot anything in years as I lost the heart for it.  I just finished the initial breakdown, studying parts, cleaning/oiling.  I have ordered boxes of Corbon 155g DPX, Doubletap 155g Barnes TAC-XP and 180gr Nosler JHP, and Buffalo Bore 155g TacXP.  I'm still trying to acquire Underwood and Winchester Silvertips.  I plan to shoot each individual box on separate targets to see what I shoot best.  I will post results once I have shot all the ammo.  Yes, it will be my first time shooting the 10mm and I'm aware maybe the ammo examined later may have an unfair advantage, I am not exactly new to handguns.  I have previously shot 357 magnum revolver and Glock 357 Sig (love), fairly accurately (<4 inch groups shooting rapidly approx 20 yards, better concentrating), although I'm no pro.

Well I'm thinking of upgrading to a barsto barrel and a stiffer spring, I don't know yet, will have to see what I'm shooting and do some more reading on the forum.  Will more than likely have the grip slimmed just to make it a bit more comfortable to me.

Thanks guys!

I put a couple of them long magazines in my Yugo. They no workee. Turned my nice SKS into a single shot. Put the stock 10 round mag back in real quick!
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?
