Hello dear American fellas,

cheers from the "old continent", South-Germany.

If seen my 50th spring some years ago and am a sport shooter for over three decades now.
I´ve started my hunter-training (training because Germany, you know) a couple weeks ago and want to make my exame (exame because Germany, you know  8) ) hopefully this year.

Because shooting for a while I know some and have rifles already, but wanted a back-up gun for search hunting and such.

A 10mm pistol will be my choice and by searching for infos about it (those are very rare over here), i found you guys and this board here.

Greets from over the pond,
we will read us.
:D

Hello Jayjay1 and welcome to the forum!  Hope things work out for your exame training, and with you experience it should.
Wishing you luck to finding the 10mm pistol to meet your needs...   I have several 10mm firearms and the Glock 20 and 29 have served me well and reliably.
Do you have the freedom to handload ammo for yourself over there?  10mm can be a great cartridge to load at various power levels of perfoormance.

Best regards and enjoy the forum!  :D

Thank you for the welcome.  :)

Heck yeah, I´m a reloader for over 20 years now and will of course reload the - over here - very expensive 10mm for sure.   ;D

I make my own bullets as well, mostly using Hitek, and am having a Lyman .401"/175gr. mold on hands.

I´ve used it in my .40S&W years ago, loading for IPSC.

But before, and that´s why I´m here, I have to find me a pistol, which can take me over half a year of waiting after ordering it.    :(

Glad that you have the freedom to do it yourself as it is part of the passion.
I have that same mold 175 grain in 4 cavity and they do shoot very well in 10mm and 40S&W.

What powders do you have that you can utilize for your handloading?  VitaVouri & Lovex seems to be popular in the European nations.

Yes, you are correct with the powders.
When I started reloading (after training and exame, because Germany, you know  8) ) I cruised a lot through American forums and the first years I´ve used many American powders.
But then, from time to time, there were always phases you couldn´t get those powders over here, so I switched completely to European powders.

Vithavuori is very popular and Lovex too, as being a bit on the cheap side.
I totally excluded Lovex, when I got disqualified at the German Championship because I didn´t make the factor.
Lovex is very inconsistent, you have to measure every bottle you get, so I dropped it completely several years ago.

Reload Swiss came up a few years ago and it gains more and more popularity.

So, that´s what I use now, VV mostly for the handguns and RS mostly for rifles.

P.S.:
I do have the 4-cavity as well, man, that´s a heavy sucker.

New guy from Eastern WA with my first 10mm on the way, a Tanfoglio Witness Steel Full Size.  Been telling myself for years I don't NEED a gun this powerful, but a deal sort of fell in my lap, so I traded off my CZ .45.  Looking forward to the new gun and cartridge, it's been a long time since I got off the mainstream.  Later.

This topic was one of the items that present a problem during the recovery.  I just restored it separately and made it sticky.  Apologies if I clobbered a record of a newcomer.  It wasn't on purpose.
