Hello All, my name is John. I've been reading and learning from this great forum for awhile now. I live near the NW corner of South Dakota in a small ag-based community. Sturgis (and the Black Hills) are 170 miles SW, Bismarck ND is 125 to the NE. Active duty AF from Jan84 to Oct94, working aircraft environmental and electrical systems on the flight line. The last 3 years I was a engine-run qualified primary Crew Chief on the B1-B's at Ellsworth, serious fun for a member of the 'ground crew'. Four kids, 4 grandsons, no complaints-that's what peep sights and scopes are for! Been operating a 120' boom self propelled crop sprayer 12 years now and when its wet in the early spring, it pays to get out and walk certain spots to prevent getting the sprayer stuck. Too many badger holes for me. Started out with a CZ P01 in 9mm that is awesomely accurate with the 124gn round nose. Soon after came Marlin levers in 44 Mag, 444M, 30-30 Win, and 35 Rem. I started out reloading the 44 Mag and continued on with the other 3 rifle cartridges. My 444 with a 300gn XTP and 41.5 gns of H4198 falls into the realm of serious fun-right at 2000fps with an 18.5 ported barrel.  A while back I bought the Gen3 20sf but wasn't prepared to reload for it, so over some time have prepared and its coming together.  Improvements include a 6"KKM, 22lb non captive return spring with steel guide rod, and trigger linkage polish. The q tips and Mothers polish really helped to define the trigger break point.  Did the ladder with Longshot, WLP primers, and Everglades 180gn TMJ from 8.5 to 9.5 (fresh starline brass) last weekend and this thing rocks! Going to post in  the reloading section with chrono results here in a bit, but wanted to offer my perspective (of serious fun) and a "Thanks" to forum members and the education you offer.

Hello! New to the forum, not to the 10mm. I bought a Delta Elite back in 1987, along with several others inmy shooting circles. I had a good one, about half of them were "problematic" and either didn't run well, or weren't fitted up right by Colt and wore out quickly. After a good while, I sold the Colt and moved on, but I used it for IPSC and other things, and had a lot of fun with it.

Moving on to 2021, I was rummaging around in my storage closet and noticed I had quite a bit of old handloads from the 10mm days, and I'd noticed that a local gunshop had a half-dozen 10mms of various types, 3 Glocks, a Smith 610, and two RIA Pro Match 6" 10mms. Hey, I should buy one of those RIAs, since I've still got all those rounds loaded! So, I did just that, I bought a pistol to fit that ammo I'd had in storage for some years. That was only yesterday, but a detail strip showed the RIA to be better machined than most Colts I've owned or seen over the years, and it seems to be a pretty nice pistol. I still haven't shot it yet, but I'll try it and see how it does this weekend, weather permitting. It seemed to hand-cycle some of the old handloads quite well, but some others seem to be a bit too long, perhaps a magazine issue, who knows just yet? I've got more magazines on the way, Metalforms and the one lone Chip McCormick I could find online. Maybe those magazines will feed the longer ammo a bit better, we'll just have to see.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much better, or worse, the newer guns are made. It will be fun to see.

Welcome glennasher,
I have an RIA Rock Ultra FS HC 10mm and has proven to be very reliable and extremely well made for the price
Enjoy!

glennasher, Welcome to the forum!  Having dealt with lots of range pickups over the years, I have notice where normal sizing dies didn't fully size the area just above the extractor cut.
That being said, Pass through sizing has really improved many things for 10mm / 40S&W / 357Sig & 9x25Dillon using a LEE FCD die with the upper guts removed, taking advantage of the carbide sizer ring, and pushing these case up and through that ring.  Not only does it size the entire length of the case it also helps to make the rims concentric, even helps primer pockets just a little as well.

Pass Through Sizing aka (Lee Bulge Buster) might help your ammo fit as well with tighter chambered firearms.

Best regards!   Enjoy the forum!

Hey Guys and Gals,

New guy, here and to 10mm, from the LowCountry of South Carolina where I live on ten acres out in the scrub. Retired, have my own range(nothin fancy) that'll appear in videos here. Looking to break into the 10mm pistol world, likely in the 1911 style pistol. I did buy a S&W 1066 from an estate, unfired, and haven't fired it, cause, well, its 30 years old and unfired. More on that "dilemma" later.
Looking forward mostly to learning here, breaking into reloading 10mm, and maybe getting some pointers on finding the elusive Springfield Ronin 4.25' barrel in 10mm!

Thanks for reading,

Joe

Mike in Arizona. I've been looking at the 10 mm for a couple years now. A deal came up for a Polymer80 PF45 and so I jumped on it. This may have been a mistake. It took about 4 months to buy all the parts for the lower and that's where I am right now. I've been looking for a slide and the upper parts for a few months now. Not having much luck though. Also been looking for brass and dies without much luck. Is this the most popular firearm in the world or just the times? Hopefully I can get some parts and some ammo in the next year or so. In the mean time, I will check out the hand loads and any other info I can find on the forum.

Hello Mike and welcome to the forum!  Lone Wolf Dist may have the slides and barrels you need.
Yes times are a little hectic at the moment with panic buying which has been going on since before the frauded election process.
Best of luck finding all the stuff you need to complete the build and start the handloading process!

Best regards!  :D
