Well, I picked up the Gen 4 G20 today. It has a testfire date of January 2014. This sample was made in Austria. Apparently some of the Gen 4's are now manufactured in Smyrna, Georgia.

Out of the box, the slide feels stiffer with the Gen 4 dual RSA when compared to my Gen 3 stock RSA. The grip size without the backstraps installed feels exactly like my Gen 3 SF grip. The polygonal pylons are a nice addition, and will improve the grip comparatively I think. There are 4 backstraps, two with the beavertail and two without.

The slide finish is almost charcoal gray on color, and feels smooth to the touch, at least more so than my Gen 3 slide.

Unfortunately, my sample came with three ten round magazines. Ugh...I didn't realize this when I purchased it, but it was the only Gen 4 20 my FFL had in stock so I probably would have purchased it even if I had known. I still have 4 15 rounders for my SF, so I can switch them out. I will probably hold onto the 10 round mags for range work, but I might pick up a few more 15 round mags anyway.

Oh...sights. They are the standard Glock plastic. I had asked for night sights but again, this is what he had in stock.

But the gun feels and points great. I can't wait to get to the range to test it out. Hopefully this weekend. Range report to follow!

Thanks for listening..

I now have a G20 Gen 4 and G29 Gen 4.  Personally can't stand or use (well) the factory sights.  I have not owned a Gen 3 so can't compare.  I have my G20 really souped up: Trijicon HD night sights, Ghost Trigger, KKM match grade barrel, and (fortunately) 3 15 rd. mags.  I have clients who say they couldn't possibly control a "10mm" but end up shooting lights out with it and asking to shoot it again and again.  The G29 is only a few weeks old and I am having night sights (Speed Sights - trying them at least) installed tomorrow so a range report might be in the cards this weekend.

FYI - don't start out with Underwood ammo unless you know how hot it is (or just love hot rounds - which I do  ;D)

Lol! Thanks Pat, I willl start off with a box of UMC. But then I gotta try the Underwood just to see how it is.  ;D

First rounds my G20 Gen4 saw was 200gr TMJ Underwood. I used 180gr Georgia Ammo since and it feels like a .40 with that ammo.

Buckeye, what kind of speed sights are you using? I was considering trying out XS big dots on one of my guns that doesn't have tritium yet. Some people love 'em some don't.

Last year I almost bought a glock 20 but I couldn't find a new one without a pignose.  Are these things coming right off the production line with a physical defect or what?

I don't think so. Some Glocks are pig nosed, but it doesn't effect performance.

I'm curious to see how it shoots.

Mine was also test fired in Jan 2014. Have had zero concerns.

Congrats!!!

Some days it's just good to be lucky; rather than just good looking!

Part of my research in choosing between the G20 SF and the G20 Gen4 was an email to Glock.  I found out that the grip of the G20 Gen4 is 0.20 inches shorter than the G20 SF.  Probably not enough for most to even tell the difference, but it is why there is no Gen4 SF.

Interesting information. Thanks for sharing.
