Took four ladies to the range, cause that's how I roll.

Actually, a friend of my wife volunteered me to teach her and three other women basic shooting.

Conducted an hour and one-half lecture on safety (the four rules), range etiquette, handgun mechanics, handling, grip and sight picture. Then, we went to the range.

They all shot well and safely with a rented 9mm XD and my 1911 in .45 ACP. They started out at seven yards, then, after an hour, they moved, on their own, the targets back to about 20 yards to test their ability. I didn't get to shoot much at all. They commandeered my 1911 and my ammo. We stayed till closing, the very last to leave.

One in particular, one of two college students kept all her shots in a tight 6" group. Very good for her first time ever shooting a gun of any kind. Later heard she got her brother and father excited about going to the range.

One middle aged woman had me laughing. She seriously is going to buy a handgun and a rifle.

Four more for the cause.

Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

I enjoyed watching the transformation. The best shot (the one who got her brother and father wanting to go to the range) said she was reluctant at the beginning.

They all learned how real gun owners deal with guns and their place in helping them better able to defend themselves.

They shot so well, makes me wonder how many people at the range with those "shotgun pattern" hits on targets may simply have never been taught.

Now, I need to go back to the range so I can get a chance to shoot.  :)

Good on ya, Harry.  I've done that myself on many occasions.  Fun, isn't it?  I always feel good after an introduction session.  The only thing more fun is tactical response training.

You're probably right, about those "shotgunners".  They (almost) always leave my place a better shot.  The ones who don't are better off throwing rocks (we're probably better off).

People shooting shotgun patterns either haven't been taught or aren't teachable.  Or I guess sometimes they don't care.  One group I went shooting with were perfectly happy to hear the bang and feel the recoil.  They didn't care if they hit anything or not.  I only went with them once.

awesome job you did.....sometimes it's great just to teach...but, like you said....you need to shoot sometimes too :)

It was fun. Heard the second college student took a friend to the range. She went from never having shot a gun to two range visits in a week.

You created a junkie, and it's in her blood now.  Gotta love that!
