One sold on gunbroker the other day for $1,700.

They have three right now, one is over $1,600, the second is over $1,300 and the 3rd I bid $700 on and didn't even meet the reserve price.  :o

The thing is, I really want one, and once my credit limit gets increased on my credit card next month, I'll probably be one of the idiots that pay the big bucks for one.

Maybe cheaper to convert a GP100?

Yea, but it is not a 10mm!   ::)
Besides I have a beautiful S&W Mod.29 44 Magnum that shoots like a laser beam even with the factory target sights...

I think alot of people, me included, are really 10mm fans and are pretty caliber loyal. I have very few non 10mm guns, and 90% of my reloading supplies are for 10mm. 41Mag is great, but I don't want to invest in a new cartridge. It was hard enough to justify my .357 revolver purchase. Some people are perfectly fine with having multiple calibers in their collection. I have a few, but not looking to expand it. The 10mm is so easy to load to different specs, from plinking to magnum power, revolvers to semi autos to carbines. If something bad ever happens in this world, and the SHTF, I'll feel comfortable knowing that i have one standard platform across all gun types with thousands of rounds in stockpile. And with .40 being fairly common ammo, if 10mm ever became impossible to find, a revolver that can shoot .40 s&w is a good thing to have.

I hear ya on the prices. Around the first of this year it seems 610's were going for $1100-$1200 on GB. I decided if I ever found one for $1000 or less I'd buy it. Now $1200 sounds pretty good.

Question to ponder - seeing this demand, why doesn't S&W make another run? Couldn't they sell them for 40%-50% more than what a new 629 costs?

I should probably keep my trap shut, but I just listed mine GB... :-[  I need the cash flow to help finance my P220 10mm and some other things I need for my writing, but I'm not dying to sell it, either.  I just made the reserve what I paid for it.  It cost me almost $900 when I bought it in about 2009.

If it's any consolation, I'll post the link to the P220 article if I get one.  ;D

No.  They don't even have prototypes yet, but I'm on the list with Sig for a T&E model.

Noooooooo!!! Don't tell them that!!! If S&W were to do them again they ought to be priced on par with the 686, OR LESS   :) that way they'd sell a boat load of them and give us devotees another 10mm path to send our money down. Also, if they're going to do it, they must make an 8-8.5" with an unfluted cylinder  ;)

I guess it's a 'sellers market' for the 610.  A few years ago, I was going to sell a 610 NIB for a $1,000 and the buyer started making excuses about not having the cash all-at-once.  So, I pulled-the-plug on the sale 'double-quick'.  Money talks, and bullshit walks!  I even reduced the gun a few hundred as a favor for this guy, since he wanted it so bad.  I wonder what would happen, if I had, said two-grand cash?  You tell me, what's the 'fair market value' for a scarce commodity?

I wanted one for so long but... pistols for auto rounds and revolvers for Magnum rounds  8)

Love to grab a revolver and a 1076. Guy at the range has a 1076 and I am trying to pry it from him. If that Sig comes available 1st, I will get that and disregard the 1076.

S&W needs to make the revolver again, there is a demand.
