Double Tap pushing the envelope for power. They might have out-done themselves with the new 450 SMC  (Short Magnum Cartridge). This new round is meant to be fired through any firearm that is chambered for 45 ACP +P. It pushes a 185 gr JHP to 1350 fps, a 230 gr JHP to 1200 and a 255 gr hardcast to 1100.  Read more here;

Should anyone purchase any of this ammo from Mike McNett please consider sending a round in for pull-down testing.
These are said to be cut down 308 brass and use a large rifle primer but really would like to see what's inside.  If he is using 308 cases the inside of the casing would need to be reamed to account thicker brass.  I suspect its LongShot that would match up to what we have seen in 10mm...

What I see is yet another attempt to get 10mm like performance from the old 1911 45ACP combo like the 460 Rowland, but this time no barrel mods or swaps.  Just stronger and thicker brass being made to accommodate and contain the extra pressure... ::)

Starline sells +P brass for the 45acp... holds 2 gr** less due to thicker walls.

How much thicker would these be?

edit  ** 2 gr less water capacity

I wonder if they actually travel at the advertised velocity.  ::)

The 450smc makes me consider carrying a g30 daily and sticking an extended batrel in it when I hike.  They have a nice keith cast in the 450smc!!
