Hi everbody!
I'm new to 10mm, got a good deal on it, looking to do some hunting and whatnot in northern MN. I work at my LGS, but not too many people are up on 10mm around here (SE MN)

I was curious as to which ammo you would recommend for practice. I keep looking up rounds that have velocities in the mid to low 1100 fps. I have a .40 and I want to use the potential of a 10mm to it's max, not replicate what I have in a different firearm.

Thanks Much

Reload :)

Honestly, if you want real world 10mm info, right at the top of this category are 2 threads. "Gel Tests" and "Master Loads"

Both of those cover pretty much any factory Ammo currently available for 10mm with real world velocity tests.

For plinking/practice I highly recommend reloads. The cost of factory ammo versus reloads is night and day. Working at a gunshop, can give you an edge on the reloading as you can keep an eye on what powders are coming in.

bswens083, welcome to the forum and congrats with your 10mm even though you didn't mention the brand/make.
You could look for some Underwood FMJ ammo, he had some instock the other day.  However just finding 10mm stuff to shoot will be a challenge as the shortages continue...

Handloading has proved to bring out some quality rounds in this cartridge.

Best regards and enjoy!

Thanks!

I suppose I should introduce myself properly: the firearm is question is a gen 3 Glock 20SF with a Lonewolf slide and 5.5" threaded barrel.

I've found myself in a time of ammo abundance and have stocked up in every other caliber besides .45acp. I know I can find the ammo, I just want to make sure I'm getting what I pay for. I haven't settled on what makes the best hunting round, but I'd love to get my hands on ammo that's at least 1300fps. Any stroll into bear country or even whitetail hunting around here, I'm determined to make my shots count. As much as I would love to get into reloading, i baulk at the front end expense and I've seen enough guys scrounging for powder, brass, primers etc.. Plenty of .40 bullets, but that's not saying much. The place I work at isn't a chain, so we're limited in buying things. Basically reloading is not on my horizon anytime soon.

I'm just trying to find hot(er) factory ammo

Welcome! And enjoy your new Glock / Lonewolf hybrid. Let us know how she shoots!

Edit: As far as hot 10mm ammo goes, Underwood is your friend.

They still have some various weights in stock. Enjoy..

Welcome to the forum.  I too have a Gen 3 20 SF.  As everyone says Underwood is your friend.

Bozz10mm

I would recommend Underwood Ammo also.  It is the least expensive full power ammo I have found.  The quality is there too.  Although I have never tried it, you might also look at PBR's website. Parabellum Research.  They have some decent offerings in 10mm.  I guess I should give them a try, since they are virtually down the road from me. (About 50 miles on the Interstate).
