Is anyone here a member of that Sig board? Can you ask if they plan on doing an extended 10mm magazine? If it held 10+ rounds I think this is a win!

MOUNTAIN WILLIAM

The SIG P220 is a great platform, although the bore axis is very high compared to almost any other handgun. I would expect that this model would come with an SRT installed in it, if so the single action trigger pull will rival a tuned 1911. For me the major drawback will be the low mag capacity.

And as already mentioned, swapping top ends is always an option to create something that the factory won't do.

Dept's would never go to 10mm. They are a diverse bunch of recruits and Ofc's. Exception might be the rural/outback areas.

The implications from SIG's announcement is enormous, and should have a profound effect on forces, that influence handgun sales worldwide.  Manufacturers who listen to 'market demands', and have the foresight to act on market influences, usually are the creators of "the next big thing", and this is it!  As a 'mainstream' caliber, in general usage; the 10mm's real-world applications would be appreciated by the largest possible consumer base.  I'm hoping this stimulus, will help enable Vltor/Abrams into immediate 'direct action' to finally deliver a physical 'Bren Ten' product into retail circulation.  Everyone here, has posited their wish-list of 10mm arms.  This forward-thinking action, by a large arms company like SIG Sauer might just be the catalyst, that gun world needs to spur these dreams into physical reality.

I have a P220 and it's a great shooting gun, the only thing I don't like about it is the lack of ammo capacity (7+1)....

Only important in the commy state of NY  :)
That's the capacity of it's single stack magazine, it's not a state law....
Actually in NY it is...(until the Western district ruling is 100% accepted)... You can be a possible court case on Long Island as some da's have not fully agreed to abide by the ruling and/or the NYS trooper recommend procedure.

I have a P220 and I would love to have one!!!

Stopped at the local LGS over the weekend and handled a P220.

Price at this particular store for a bare bones 45 ACP P220 was $879.00 before tax and transfer fees.

I personally found the back of the grip frame to be a bit narrow.  I fear it might be a bit uncomfortable with full power 10mm ammo and factory grips.  Looks like there are lots of options though.  And, I am used to a para P-16, so that may have been part of it.

Trigger pull DA was nice and smooth, and surprisingly light.  Also not terribly long.  SA had a bunch of creep-free take-up, then a crisp creep-free break.  Lighter than my Witness, but heavier than my Elite Match and 1911.  Reset was on the long side as you had to go to the front of the SA take-up.

Very good pointability, at least for me.  It is hard to get my usual high-grip though, and I do suspect muzzle flip will be an issue in a P220 10mm with the bore axis so high.

All in all, a great add for 10mm if they follow through.  I think lots of us will buy them, giving Sig a small buy loyal customer pool they don't currently access.  And I think lots of hard core Sig fans will grab one so they can have a 10mm.  I think this will be a great symbiosis.

Don't know how true this is but have a look see!

http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/4280076263

Three models will be offered: (we will see)

P220 Stainless Elite 10mm, standard length slide and barrel, traditional DA/SA trigger

P220 Match Elite 10mm, stainless, long slide, 5" barrel, traditional DA/SA trigger

I see a P220 Elite in my future. I like the P220 as a 45ACP but never bought one. As a 10mm that's a whole different story

P220 SAO 10mm, stainless, long slide, 5" barrel, single action only trigger

I attended armorer training last month for the new P227's that are being rolled out to my dept. I asked the Sig rep about a 10mm offering. He informed me it was coming in the P220 first, then will be followed by the double stack P227. This should satisfy the guys knocking it for capacity.

Even more happy dance.  I will still buy a 220...doing my part to make sure they don't back out on the 227 because of lackluster sales.

Sig has said they are going to build a 10mm in 3 versions of their P220 gun. I will be waiting for a full size all steel model. No mention on how soon the guns will hit the market.

If this is available with a .40 and .357 conversion it could be a hit.
