In response sqbullet, It's a viable well earned platform.

My agency just got new Sig 229's. The trigger is the SRT trigger and it is excellent. The gun shoots great as well. I have high hopes for a Sig in 10mm...

I also got to hold a Witness Match yesterday but I didn't get to shoot it. I was very impressed with the feel. IC, if you are ever up in Jersey I would love to shoot one.

I hate to be the downer on this one, but wonder how this fits in?

If the 10mm version comes out in the same $1100 price range as the .45 version:

and is a single stack with nothing stellar in the trigger pulls, pretty thick and not all that sharp looking. My opinion here on not wanting a rail as well. I'm glad at least someone is making a 10mm, but I wish they were all double stack with with some tricks offered up and at a good price point. I think my money would be better spent buying two Match pistols, a Limited/Limited Pro or even a tricked out Glock.

I don't have a Match anymore and they do have a great feel though. If you ever add another one it should be on the top of your list for consideration. I base that on owning about all the 10mm platforms except the Glocks. You see which ones I kept and what gets used everytime I go out. It's a damn shame I keep the 1006 in a pouch because it isn't as nice to shoot as the Witness pistols.

My issue is I've never liked frame mounted decockers.

I hope I had something to do with this. I have been writing gun manufacturers repeatedly showing them how many members we have, promising them that there are enough 10mm fans out there and if they were to produce something they will get bought. Although I'm no fan of single stack semi autos, this will help our cause and help spread the word about 10mm. I have many friends that are "Sig only" kind of guys and refuse to buy any other gun brand. I'm not into Sig, having used them in the military police detective unit, but I will own one when they become available.

Make no mistake, this is big news. A company like Sig producing a 10mm is a huge step forward. But we can't just dream. People will need to buy them. Hopefully this will cause other companies to take notice. Would love an XD or a Ruger SR in 10mm.

We will get there, and this site will continue to pressure the gun manufacturers.

That's right Grim Reaper, I'm doing my part as well.  On Facebook, I add comments almost daily, in manufactures pages asking why they don't offer a particular gun in 10mm, or when will the 10mm version be available.

Just yesterday I popped up on the Ruger FB page with a response to this;

Quote10mm semi auto chambered Deerslayer like the 44mag version.
There are many 10mm enthusiast looking for a 10mm chambered carbine platform.

Sharp looking is eye of the beholder IC.  I personally think the longslide Sig's look great.  And, like Reaper says, just like we tend to be 10mm first and only guys, there are lots of Sig first and only guys.  Heck, Gray Guns was selling custom P220's in 10mm for what, $2000 + gun?

And, like I said, find a P227 owner who wishes they had a gone with a P220 and trade them frames.  At this point I am just planning on buying a P220 10mm and a P227 for that very purpose.

Another thing I read is it's all righty controls and no ambidextrous option.

sqlbullet

The Elite SAO is ambi.

I think the manual of arms is to use the left index finger to decock.  Haven't tried it though.

If we are nit-picking, the Sig also has one of the higher bore-axis of modern semi-auto pistols.  This, combined with the legendary slide momentum of a 10mm will probably result in more muzzle flig and slower splits than from a Glock or a Witness.

Still buying. ;D

True....but I would buy one too.

I heard you can get on the pre-order list now and it's growing.

Will never happen. The Sig fanboys would wet their panties if they ever shot a real mans cartridge.  :P
