Some days it's just good to be lucky; rather than just good looking!

Monday I took the Long Slide for it's second trip to the range, firing a total of 90 rounds through it.  Factory rounds were Remington 180 grain FMJ, Georgia Arms 180 grain FMJ, and the "Delta" 180 grain offering from Underwood.  Reloads were topped with Zero 200 grain FMJ and Montana Gold 180 grain JHP.  Results were the same as from the first range trip.  Accuracy was good but the pistol would only function with the 2 mas that came with it.  My old reliable Tripp mags did not work at all, and only one of two Wilson mags worked.  Once again, the magazine issues were the same on both trips.

The above mag issue does not surprise me as I learned that a 10mm 1911 can be real picky about their mags.  That's fine but I certainly need more than 2 mags that will run in the long Slide.  Yesterday I called Nighthawk and discussed my mag situation with them.  I was told that the two mags that came with the pistol were tuned for it.  I ordered 4 more of their mags and will see how they do.  I like this pistol a lot, so I don't mind a little juggling with the mags.  If needed, I will either get several more of their mags and have them tune them, or send it off to Virgil Tripp and have him tune several of his mags.  I hope that I will not have to do this but will if it proves to be necessary.

I haven't seen that and I own 3 1911 10mm pistols, 3 different manufacturers, and many makes of magazines. I fount my RIA did not like exactly ONE of my magazines. All of them work fine in the other 2 pistols.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I find magazines to be kinda like reloads.  Some guns like whatever and others are pretty finicky for some reason.

Friday I received 4 more of the Nighthawk factory mags, giving me a total of 6 Nighthawk mags.  I think that these are Metalform mag bodies with CMC internals.  So early this morning I took these mags and the Long Slide and ran 133 rounds through it with no malfunctions.  I had previously tested some Wilson and Tripp mags and had too many malfunctions.

I also took along a Wilson Tactical Elite and tried the Nighthawk mags in it.  Fired 93 rounds and had 2 malfunctions on the last mag.  I was using reloads with a mixture of cases (Starline, PMC, Federal and Armscor).  Each case has been reloaded a number of times so that may have been a factor with the malfunctions.  Additionally, I keep saying that I'm going to limit myself to 100-150 10mm rounds per session, but I'm having toooo much fun.

Here's a picture from this mornings outing:
