Interesting.  My Match never did it, but the finish is shiny. I guess that's why in Steel we suggest a Match on up. You can always contact EAA to see  ;)

What would you sugest I use to touch it up? I could just sand it down and polish it

sqlbullet

I would sand blast and park it.  But I have a sand blaster and a park tank:

Cold blue?

mt10mm

I'm just pissed that I did it :'(

Most likley I will just leave it be and shoot the crap out of it :D

Possibly use a magic eraser on a little spot to see.

I will try that, thanks for the idea

Try home blueing.  Supposedly 100% lye drain cleaner mixed two to one with 16-0-0 fertilizer, add a bit of distilled water and bring to 300°.  The fertilizer raises the boiling point so that won't be boiling.

Hoppe #9 it till all the finish comes off, then polish it up good.  Degrease with some acetone and dunk it in the hot mix for 20-30 minutes.

Seems straightforward enough.

I am a noob when it comes to hammer semi-autos.

Can I carry with a round chambered and the hammer down? I'm not a big fan of cocked and locked.

Is that safe if its dropped?

sqlbullet

Yes.  The EAA Witness has a firing pin block, so unless you have disabled it, it is safe to carry in condition 2.

When I first started carrying, before I was comfortable with condition 1 carry, I carried in condition 1.5 ( :P).  That is, round chambered, hammer at half-cock, safety on.

I have the oversized safety installed on my Witness, and one time I did find that the safety had disengaged at some point during the day.  The thumb safety on a 1911 is quite a bit more positive, plus there is the grip safety too.

I just got my witness polymer in and it came with one k10 mag. Which mags are the best for the witness 10mm?

sqlbullet

I think the general consensus is black follower.

I have all red follower mags, about 7 years old and they all run fine though.

Cleaned up the slide some. Think I am just going to leave it alone

MT10mm, that looks pretty good to me.  I am learning that these are great pistols, accurate and just a darn good pistol.

Going out to shoot her for the first time today. Have some hot and mild stuff to try out.
