So, this hit the local news today:

tl,dr;  Elementary school teacher and CCW holder had a negligent discharge in the bathroom at school this morning.

First, for those not from Utah, state law here makes it perfectly legal for a CCW holder to carry in public schools.  In fact, many of the comments are parents applauding teachers who are willing to arm themselves so they are prepared to defend the school and children if needed.

The question this really brings up for me is this.  What do you do with your EDC if nature calls when you are out and about?  Many restrooms just plain don't have a good place to put a firearm while you are "indisposed".

Thoughts?

Shoulder holster.

^^^This^^^.  I have a shoulder rig for my Delta Elite.  Except for when it's very hot and sport coat or flannel shirt over a T-shirt isn't practical it's the way to go.

Speaking for myself, a shoulder rig isn't practical.  Wearing a jacket all day in the office I might as well open carry.  Tuckable IWB is really my only option, but that makes a bathroom break a challenge.

Really depends on the gender/body type.

For me, I can't carry at work, even with a CCW, the employer will not allow weapons inside the premises (I can obviously leave me gun in the car). However, we do have Real Security. IF I really need a firearm inside the office, the SHTF so bad the fan fell off the table and is fleeing for it's life.

In the past, my carry was always done with one of my riding jackets, it was never a problem to shift the gun from the holster into one of the many internal pockets of the jacket for the time I needed to answer nature's call. During the cold months, this will still be doable, but since I have not ridden that much, it has really been a consideration. To date, I simply move the firearm to the front pocket of my pants and rest it in my lap.

Now, I asked one of my female companions who is NOT a purse girl. She wears a belly band all day and moves the gun from her IWB to her belly band when nature calls. This way she isn't restricted by the belly band carry (boobs get in the way) and her IWB sits back and out of sight. Her belly band btw, fits over the flexible back brace she wears.  Other women I know just put/carry the gun in their purse.

Under-the-shirt shoulder holster ... problem solved.

I run a Miami Classic Knock-Off, Horizontal Shoulder Rig for my Witness and CZ75 Semi Compacts
And another one set-up for my Delta Gold Cup
In the Warmer Days, I wear a Hawaiian or Panama Shirt
A Light Weight, Snap Front Shirt, works very well too

Quick 2

After dropping my pants I take my firearm off my hip roll the holster to where no one in the other stale can see the holster and place my handgun in the crouch of my underwear in case I have a need for it. After the paper work is done I replace my handgun in the holster and pull my pant up. This way there is no way it can be left behind or in a place that I can not get to it if needed.

I also run this "Deep Cover" Holster with my Semi Compacts:

When I first got my 10mm Kimber Eclipse, I tried several belt holsters (both IWB and OWB), and I thought the "bathroom problem" was a real nuisance.  Inaccessibility of the gun when belted into a car was undesirable also. Even more important, I wasn't ever able to get good concealment (up to the standards I was used to) from any of those holsters.  A vertical shoulder holster was the only method that would solve those problems for me.  But I wasn't willing to always wear a jacket ... in the summer here (Boulder, Colorado), I don't want to wear more than a light short-sleeve shirt.  So I needed to use an under-the-shirt vertical shoulder holster.  I couldn't find anything commercially available that I thought was a good solution, but I had previously developed (with much trial-and-error) a homemade under-the-shirt vertical shoulder holster that I used to carry a second S&W360sc scandium/titanium .357 snubby under my arm (the first 360sc rides in my pocket, originally as my only carried gun, later as a BUG).  I tried to use the same approach for the 1911 (not knowing if such a relatively heavy gun would work with the same approach that had worked for my 11oz 360sc).  Fortunately, it DID work, even better than I had thought possible.  And more recently, I made a similar rig for my new S&W69 (5-shot, 4-1/4" stainless .44mag revolver), and it also is working well.
