Anyone have one? I have an 8th edition showing a max load of 800X under a 180 XTP in 10mm to be 10.1 gr @ 1250 fps. I noticed in The Shadow's pulldown thread that Underwood loads were 9.3gr @ 1300+. :o COAL difference was only .001" shorter. 1.260 vs 1.259.

My question is: Has Hornady changed their recommendations in their 9th edition manual? I loaded some at 9.7 gr awhile back and now think I need to pull them down and start over. :))

In my Kimber Target II- 5" barrel : 9.0gr of 800X = 1260 fps with 180 gr XTP.

IMR's original listing for 180 grain Winchester JHP with 800X was 9.7 @ 1320 fps 34,200 PSI COAL was 1.2500" using a Remington 2 1/2 LPP.

I hold my personal loads to 9.4 grains of 800X for the 180 grain @ 1300 and 200 grain @ 1250 using the JHP's COAL was 1.2500".  ;D  Max Chamber support is needed!

Also there was some revisions in the IMR800X data, while load data was reduced somewhat, I think it had more to due with the "smiles" people were seeing from such sloppy chambers, poor lock dwell times, more than excessive pressures...I could be wrong. ::)

Why do I say that, there have been many people that have tested and used the original IMR data even with the 135's, but they really started to spike, as people substituted different primers, and cases.  I saw primers pop out as little as 11.8 grains of IMR800X  with the 135 grain test, the popped primer pushed the slide back and the case rim out from under the extractor, leaving the casing in the chamber.  The slide had enough force to actually lock it open, on that last round.

Thanks Sean and Shadow. I think it in my best interest to pull these down and reload them at a lower level. I found it confusing as in my limited experience 'book load' velocities are usually less than or equal to my duplications. And to add to it, this Hornady edition used a Colt Delta as the test pistol. Uhmmmmm... ;)
