Finally! My range is closed for repairs in July, but I see a big August for me! 8)

We're getting there! I see two more trips and we will be done. I can't wait to test the new PBR stuff.

One question I have been mulling over (others have probably done the same) is securing them. This new house has one hell of an alarm system in it! It has proximity sensors on every window, door open sensors on every external door, broken glass sensors in every room and motion detectors. The previous owners didn't use it for the 11 years they resided in it mainly because of the neighborhood layout and amount of eyes always out and about.
I have still been thinking about a safe, but for pistols only since I don't have or see getting a ton of long guns. The other option I thought about doing was having the alarm company come out to wire in a door open sensor in "the gun room". Sounds kind of redundant considering all the other sensors that would pick someone up getting to that point?
I'm not a fan of putting a big, heavy safe anywhere except the basement and thought about option 2. That option is to Fort Knox the room with a door and bolt setup that would require someone to bring down the wall  ;D

Nothing is foolproof!  Only deterrents to situation!  A good gun safe helps to protect from fire & theft...the security & sear weight will hamper criminals from just walking away with it!  ::)  I actually need to get another safe.

Even the home Alarm systems are early warning and notification devices, having inside and outside sirens to bring audible attention only gets neighbors looking your way and possibly causing the perp to go away!  While the system dials into the monitoring service, then they call you back to see if everything is OK, before calling law enforcement or fire emergency services to respond.  All the while the clock is ticking!

Intercooler,
The heavy security door seems like a excellent idea if the wall/floor will carry the load without sagging. We broke 2 of our basement stairs (2x12's) getting my safe into the basement. I guess its down there to stay now. Hope rest of move goes successfully.

I would recommend a nice medium size safe for you. Too heavy to be carried off and fire resistant.
