Colt Delta Elite recoil spring question.......

All,
I have been a happy Colt DE owner for the past couple of months and am wondering if anyone whom owns a DE has swapped out the factory dual recoil spring setup for a single spring?  If you have done this, what weight are you using in the single spring set up?  Any problems with function?  I am happy with the factory set up right now but I am just getting some info in case I want to transition to the single spring in the future.

I replaced my deltas recoil spring assembly with a short / one piece guide rod and it runs an 18lbs recoil spring.  The gun felt smoother afterward. 

There is a full length guide rod  vs short length guid rods amongst 1911 fans. 
As i said my delta runs the short 18lbs
My IAI is a full length guide rod 22 lbs
My kimber tactical II is a full length 18 lbs
Para 16-40 converted to 10mm. Short guide rod  16lbs
I aping my guns, based on felt recoil, and to manage slide velocity.  You don't want to beat your gun apart, throw brass 100 yards or short stroke on you.
