200g cast projectiles

I purchased some 200g 'hard' cast bullets at a gunshow recently to try in 10mm. The bullets seem to be really long, measure iirc .723-.724 in length (will double check tonight) and .401 diameter. They are truncated cone beveled base, see picture. At 10$/100 I figured I'd give them a try. I loaded 10 up to try with 7.0g of longshot @1.260 oal (hogdons website start load for 200g fmj) and the only thing that concerns me is that when seated to 1.260, it creates a lip at the case mouth, see pic. I shot them through my gen3g20 and had no problems, aside from the smoke accuracy was great at 10 yards, and they cycled perfectly. I may try to seat them a little longer, as long as they cycle and go in the mag.

Anyone have any idea what mold these are from? Thoughts? Guy I bought them from said he shot them in .38-40 with good results but never 10mm.

They look like the Lyman 200 TC mold. 
My 200gr RCBS TC SWC are 0.7160".


The long length is why others went to a wider MEPLAT, placing more weight out front without the beveled base, allowing for shorter lengths.

I see. Thanks for the insight shadow! Sounds like there are a few longer 200g molds out there. I forgot to ask the guy about his mold. This is his company, I don't know how much of an area he covers but he's at most of the local shows I go to.

The TC nose shape is a poor choice for heavy 10mm bullets, but unfortunately it's the most common from commercial casters too. Something with a tangent ogive, small lip at the driving band, and about .280" meplat diameter is best, in my experience.

That should be a good one. The nose is a little on the wide side, not a big deal but it may require seating deeper than 1.260" in some magazines.

Definitely looks like a fine mold! If you end up with this mold we may have to work out a trade deal so I can get some from you to try  As Yondering said, might have to go a little deeper to get them to function properly. I like the length of the projectile itself too, nice!
