Any suggested mods for a glock 29? I bought one used with a ghost trigger and fiber optic sights. I have ordered glock 20 mags with the sleeves. I have been looking at lone wolf barrels possible get an extended barrel or a .40 to open up ammo options.

A-ha. Please school me on the benefits of a stronger mainspring. I'm ignorant.

I was planning on ordering a 20 lb and 22 lb recoil spring to experiment with (the benefits of those are obvious). Any experiences and input on this is most welcome.

I would do the 23 lb spring if running hot loads. Also a extend slide release improved mine. That minimal POS they put on there would barely work on mine. I would only do the .40 barrel if you don't have any .40s already. Run mine with the stock barrel. If you don't have a .40 then this would be a great option to shoot a caliber you don't have.

I say run it the way it is and put you money towards 10mm ammo

I run the wolff Gun Springs non captive two piece rod and dual 21lb spring set on my G-29 Gen 3 non SF model, this arrangement has worked with the 10mm mild to wild, 40S&W, 357Sig and 9x25Dillon.  ;D  I have the 23lb set but it is very stout and only used for extreme testing.  My original factory spring started to slip off the plastic button, Glock sent a free replacement!  +1 for them! 8)

The extra powered spring controls ejected brass to shorter distance, slows the slide velocity.

I don't have a .40 but I am looking at it being cheaper to practice with and the extended barrel and g20 mags due to a local wildlife refuge having boar(me and the wife go hiking there.  Actually going there was the reason my first carry gun was a 10mm.

Let's see what have I done to the Ugly thing. (Yes it is ugly but my G29 gen 3 is becoming my EDC).

1) Good night sights (I use AMERIGLO I DOT PRO)
2) Maritime Cups
3) Extended Slide release
4) Extended takedown lever thing
5) Stronger Hammer spring
6) Grip plug
7) Talon Grip
8) rounded off the edges on the magazine release.
9) polished the feed ramp.

I run Underwood 180's through it with no issues.

My friends call it my Not-Glock since I have changed or modified more than 40% of it. And I'm doing the same to my wife's Glock 26.

You're looking at 3 different barrels then. For an extended one I believe they make a 4.6 inch option. Kkm seems to be the aftermarket to go with. Haven't really heard anything wrong with these. I've had issues with my stormlake and some people have problems with lone wolf. Underwoods 220 grain hardcast would kill any boar. See if that will run reliably in your 29.

The only issue would be my local range only allows jacketed ammo so I can't test it.

Dang, maybe the Underwood 200 grain xtp and 200 grain fmj.

I tried a LW barrel in my Gen 3 -29 but still had issues with brass not being re-loadable due to lack of adequate support.  I went to KKM and have been pleased.  I have a stock length KKM, a 4.6" KKM and a stock 40S&W conversion.  I also mounted a Sight Mount rear sight/picatinny rail on one of my G29s(Gen3) that holds a Trijicon RMR 06 RDS.  That is especially good for testing loads because I can shoot it more accurately than open sights.  It also has the advantage of easy adjustment for sight tuning when switching barrels.

With the 4.6" barrel and the RDS it is like a compact G20 that shoots 200 grain WFN cast at 1250 fps for woods carry and hunting.  My Gen4 is set up with the tactical adjustable rear and a Dawson Precision front for EDC.  The 40 conversion barrel shoots closely enough to POA with the 10mm barrel that I can switch to either barrel depending on ammo availability.  I like the .40 mainly for the abundance of brass.  I can seat the bullets longer than the standard .40 seating depth which enables me to safely achieve velocities of around 1140 with the 200 grain WFN - great for general purpose and practice as well as SD.

I use the Wolff non-capture 21 lb spring and rod in the Gen 3 and just have the OEM in the Gen 4 since I don't shoot max loads for EDC.  I agree with The Shadow's assessment of the 23lb spring. I've tried it.
The Gen3 has a 3.5 lb connector, but the Gen4 is stock, although I did the polish job on the internal parts and it is almost as good as the Gen3.

I have a Gen3 G20 also, but I prefer the size of the G29 for carrying, plus my hands are small so I shoot it better.

Incidentally, I have gone to powder coating for my cast bullets and am quite happy with the results - much cleaner and easier to handle, no leading, good accuracy.  I've never shot jacketed in any of my 10's.

Grulks

I've got a G29 Gen4.
The only changes I made were ext slide release, night sights, pearce +0 extenders, and a pyramid fulcrum trigger.

I don't intend to shoot underwater, so the maritime cups weren't needed. I don't need a $13 part to help me take down the slide, its not like I do this all the time. my 29 is my carry gun, I carry low profile, so no G20 mags w/grips. If I'm at the point I am putting a 15 rounder in, the last thing I want to worry about is if an external part is causing the mag to not sit properly. The pyramid will probably raise some questions, but the fact is I got it on sale for $130 (this is for the middle kit), and it eliminates all pretravel as well as reduces reset greatly. Once you try it, you will never go back to the stock, or even ghost connector trigger bars.
I have a heavier spring on my fullsize G20, but the 29 shoots everything in it without an issue, even underwood 180gr.

As far as other barrels, I have shot .40 out of the stock barrel. I'm not advocating anyone do this (do so at your own risk), but I can say that I have shot 150 rounds through both guns, and not one single issue whatsoever. I wasn't going to spend $120 on a barrel, when I can spend that on ammo. I still carry with 10, I just practice with .40.

I ordered a lw extended ported barrel and got it in this morning to try test it out. The fit is tight the finish is not the greatest I had cycled a couple mags and feeds well I am going to take it to the range this weekend.

Ok I finally tested the lw barrel and I had a few ftf's, it seems to need the feed ramp polished. I had my shell casings eject nearly vertical so I broke a floodlight over my head at the range(never done that before) any ideas how to fix it?
