Kodiak Bears and brown bears are two different sub species of the SilverTip Grizzly .
The SilverTips range in Alaska in in the higher regions and is the smallest of the three and eats more berries and smaller game.
The Brown Bear is a coastal and river area bear whos's diet is mostly salmon, which gives the mostly brown color, and alot larger size then the SilverTip.
The Kodiak is from the Kodiak Island on the Aleutian Island chain only, and is a totally isolated species of bear,  whoes diet is mostly Salmon. and is said to be the largest of the three.
I don't know if he will eat the bear he shot or not - but he will bring back the meat for use somewhere, as far as I know its against the law to leave it behind to go to waste and they keep real close eye on stuff like that.

At least it won't go to waste then. I imagine he is mounting the head and shoulders? Some of the sporting hunters get under my skin seeking out animals for the mount. I will never forget the outcry here recently about the Black Rhino hunt. Feelings inside me said it shouldn't have been allowed regardless.

He probably lives in fear everyday now.
