I do some mildly successful sports blogging, but wanted to give firearms a try.  Here is a piece about my initial impression of a newly acquired Smith and Wesson Model 1006.

Great review. I especially like the way you illustrate how the 1006 is great for shooting, but not for anything else you need a handgun to do; like be carried, easy to manipulate, etc.

Very nice write up, I started my 10mm venture with the 1006 with adjustable sights in March 1990, It was and still is a very accurate shooter.  In those days I could hit skeet laying on the 130 yard rifle berm with my handloaded ammo, yes the trigger takes a little getting use to with the amount of takeup. ::)

Since then the addiction of the S&W10xx series took a hold and purchase each of the models with the 1086 the only one I have two of.

Back when Bar-Sto made conversion barrels for the 10xx series, I purchased a 40S&W conversion for the 1006 and later on Mike McNett of Double Tap ammo got Bar-Sto to make 9x25Dillon conversion barrel, I purchased that from Mike directly, and fitted it to my slide and frame, then had the chamber finish reamed by Mr.Van Schneider of The Gun Works in Ohio.

My S&W1006 has served me well over the years, the downside is that Smith & Wesson isn't stocking parts for the 3rd gen guns leaving us to search out "used" or "new old stock" if you can find it. :(

Article was spot on concerning agents and where they fit into organization and background.  I miss the 1006, but not enough to go back to. Ithink CZ has the potential to do better.

Good write up on the Smith. So?.....how did the Hogue grips work out for you? I tried the palm swell grips and didn't find much difference. Have the Hogue's but have never tried them on the pistol. Haven't been shooting any of my tens lately.

Didn't have a chance to get out to the range over the weekend.  I ended up buying and selling a car this weekend.  I'm going to head to the range one night this week and report back.

Since your post reminded me I might put the Hogues on and see what difference they make sometime this week. Just rejoined the local range for a year so I need to get my money's worth.  ;D

Be very careful as you remove and put on your grips as not to damage the Sideplate Assembly!   ???
