MOUNTAIN WILLIAM

I've read several posts concerning problems with different brands of 1911 mags that don't operate as well as they should. Here are a couple fairly decent articles that I use as reference material when it comes to 1911 mags, maybe they will shed some light on the subject for others too.

I bought 3 wilson legendary mags and each one fails to feed critical duty, silver tip, armscor fmj, and hornady custom 180gr. So i got the cheap stock mag back out of storage and what do you know, everything was feeding flawlessly. Anyone else have any issues with these things?

I've been using Tripp Cobra Mags in both my .45ACP and 10mm 1911s and they've worked superbly! Recommend them to anyone.

With 3 10mm pistols, and two .45's, only my RIA Tac II 10mm did not like exactly 1 third party 10mm no name magazine of whatever mag I shoved in them.

That's a pretty good record. And I don't own any of the most expensive ones like Tripps.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

My RIA 1911's didn't work CMC Shooting Star mags. I stick with the factory original Metalforms and have no failures of any kind in either 10mm or 45acp.

I have converted quite a few of my 8 round mags to 9 round with a Chip McCormick kit. They work just as well as the 8 round mags.

I found the best 1911 (45ACP) magazines were the USGI magazines in the brown wrapper from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. All the fancy magazines jam. I do not know about 10mm magazines for the 1911.

Well if Checkmate doesn't now they did because I have some.

Good mags, too.

Based on this report I purchased 2 Tripp mags for my Kimber Eclipse 10mm as I was having trouble with FTF and needed some additional mags.  These magazines did nothing for the FTF but I also noticed that they are loose while installed in the gun and hang down below the frame showing about an eighth inch of metal before the bottom plate when they are installed.  I called Tripp about this and they said it was intentional for a more universal fit.  My conclusion is that I don't care for that and would try another brand in the future though I can't expect them to stop my FTF problem.

Chip McCormick / Shooting Star Mags are very good too
You can add his +Rounds Base Pads too
So tell me again how Trump was worse then the 8 years before .... AND what came after HIM !

My Tripp Magazines work in my Eclipse 10 perfectly, as do the old and new style Kimber magazines, Deltas and Dan Wesson mags. (Anyone knows who make the Dan Wesson mags?)

Tripps in 9 and 38S also work perfect in my 9mm and 38 Super.

However the .45's did not work in my Colt SS Government and Gold Cup.

Don't quote me on this, but I think I read somewhere once Metalforms made the Dan Wesson 1omm mags,

My research points to Tripp 9 round mags.  Ram, your FTF may be a mistuned extractor.

ETA, I just bought 2 of the tripp 9 rd mags with the alloy base pad. I will provide a range report soon.
