Issue with LAX Ammo this morning

This is my third shipment of LAX and today I found two bad ones. As you may know they come loose packed in a plastic ammo can. I always take loose rounds out and put in a tray or plastic container for my range visits. This has always smoked out any abnormal length rounds visually (uneven heights). I plan on sending them the picture and seeing what they say. It seems every MFG has an issue here or there and all the other rounds I have shot without a single issue. Good or bad though, I feel it should be shared!

The two on the left are correct OAL. The two on the right are set back.

Guess they FAILED the push test... or just set in to low?

Intercooler

My plan is to send these two with the next batch to The Shadow to see if he can shed some light on what made them wrong.

You might be better off sending them back to LAX so they can correct the problem.

Being they are setback that deep they would raise the peak pressures.
They look like plated bullets, they may be undersized... ???
I can do the pull-down, document them and then correct them,  They should be at least 1.2500" OAL.

I can't see sending back just two rounds and will see what they say about it. If it were 15 or more I would for sure be on them!

I checked the remainder and found three more bad ones. That's 5 out of 750 total rounds.

Give them a call. They may want a few samples.

Just sayin..

The_Shadow

Is that the plating that is peeled?  Or just discolored?  Either way those two should shoot OK...

I have no idea  :o I sent them mail on it and want to test the customer service end of their business. That is equally as important as good ammo... how they handle the issues! We have seen others step up and I expect the same even though they are reloads. I will give them until Wednesday and then phone them if I don't hear anything.

One out of every 10 mags fills.

Which just justifies me learning how and reloading, which is cheaper than store bought anyways. I control the quality that way.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

I received the rounds from Intercooler; Here is what I found...

Three were deep seated  1.1250" – 1.1595" – 1.1885"  PPU cases (Loose bullet fit could not be corrected with pass-thru and regular sizing, not even extra crimping) The PPU brass continued to spring back after sizing, setbacks could be a serious issue.
After "Pass-Thru sizing" and resizing with my RCBS 10mm sizer, these three PPU cases retained a loose bullet fit, the bullets would just fall into the case on one of them, one after seating and crimping I was taking the measurement with the caliper and the bullet would move deeper.  The brass is BAD!  I have to wonder about those who had "CASE BLOW OUTS" if they happened to get a "Setback" prior to or while the rounds were feeding, thus causing higher pressure condition.

Two that had black on the bullets was a residue that cleaned off, possible polishing compound and media that stuck there.

I think I will skip that ammo and stick with PBR
