Thankfully, the NY State magazine capacity ban has been voted down:

http://legalinsurrection.com/2013/12/federal-court-voids-7-round-mag-limit-of-nys-safe-act-allows-rest/

Hypothetically speaking, if this ban were still in effect; which handgun / caliber combination would you choose to carry in or through NY State?

For me, I think I would go with the Springfield XDs in .45 ACP. I could conceal this combination without a problem, and could use the 7 round magazine option for spare mags.

One of my Colt Combat Commanders in .45 ACP might be an option as well, though they would not be as easy to conceal as the XDs. Why not 10mm? I think a Springfield XDs in 10mm would be too much of a handful (not that they make one). A Commander in 10mm might be a nice option. It would be a shame though to limit one of these to 7 round capacity.

What do you think?

Either a Sig 220 ( 8 rd mag, so after loading 7 ) and HST's
OR
Glk 20 with 7 in mag with SilverTips/DT nosler

I'd use what I have just max the mag to 7 rounds to be compliant. That said my Smith 310 would fit the bill if my semis caused trouble

CCO.  Probably a custom one in 10mm.

The same one I'm always carrying, my G42.

If this became law coast to coast limiting the number of rounds you could carry, I'd pack a 4 inch 500S&W Magnum.

What I already carry here in western NY, a nighthawk custom GRP, 45 with 7 round wilson 47 mags.

Revolvers, 1911's, and .380's...that's pretty much what I figured.

I also thought perhaps a Glock 36, but the XDs is slimmer. Unfortunately, NJ is now looking at a 10 round magazine limit.  :( This is getting to be a sad state of affairs.

I will still carry my hi power with the 10 rounders in the warmer weather

Rather than protect myself in NY, I protect myself FROM New York and just keep my a$$ out of there.

I'll stick to states that have some remnant of personal freedom to spend my time in.  15+1 has a nice sound to it, doesn't it!!!

Absolutely!

Living so close to NY, every once in a while I venture into that state. Sometimes it is to visit NY City, other times for hiking, hunting. or just passing through. I always have to consider my choice of carry when I do go there, hence the motivation for this thread.

Tough choice.  I think I only have one  or two-seven round 1911 magazines, so it couldn't be one of them!   ;D  I guess the 610 and 642.

Hmmm, both my 10mm's have several magazines using the Chip McCormick springs and followers to be able to hold 9 rounds.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Well, at least you should be good now that the 7 round law has been shot down.
