Single stack 9mm options

Looking for a carry gun for my dad.

Im leaning hard towards the xds 3.3" 9mm but maybe the 4.0 as he will likely want a .380 pocket for warm days when he isnt wearing a blazer.  He is very traditional and wears slacks/chinos with tucked in dress shirts year round.  There isnt a shirt he doesnt tuck in!  It needs to be single stack with a thin grip.  For .380 it would likely be the ruger lcp.

I bought two Glock 42's. One for my wife & one for me. I can't say enough good about them. They are the most fun guns to shoot. Very accurate. I've rented an LCP & considered purchasing one. I'm really happy that I didn't as it does not compare to the G42. This is now mine & my wife's EDC, all year, any clothing. The grip is slim, fits in all of my pants pockets very well except for jeans that are tight.

My wife, who is a fairly inexperienced shooter is very accurate with this gun. Almost as accurate as she is with our G20 or G17. More accurate than with our G26.

If he is happy with a .380 & not set on a 9mm, then strongly consider it for him.

I have 2 single stack 9's.  My primary carry weapon is a Walther PPS.  It comes with 2 backstraps and a 7 and 8 round magazine.   With the 8 round mag, I can get my large hands on the grip comfortably.  At .9 inches wide, it is very easy to conceal.  It has a great trigger and is a very accurate shooter that handles recoil well. 

The other gun is a Beretta Nano.  This is my wife's primary carry weapon.  No backstrap options.  With the 8 round magazine, my pinky is still partially off the grip, but fits my wife's hands perfectly.  The Nano is also about .9 inches wide, but is shorter in both length and height when compared to the PPS.  Despite being about 1 ounce lighter, the Nano handles recoil well.  The Nano has a much longer trigger pull than the PPS.  The Nano is also over $200 cheaper than the PPS.

Both guns are carried in a Crossbreed Supertuck holster.  We have fired everything from cheap factory rounds, +P self defense rounds, and many of my hand loads and have had zero failures of any kind.  The PPS is my favorite gun and find it to be worth every penny, but I'd recommend either as a reliable gun for carry.

looking for a tuckable holster... I use the crossbreed supertuck also...
I can tuck a dress shirt over a sig 226 and it doesn't show so a smaller gun would be easy.

Easy.... Kahr CM9 (or PM9 if you aren't cash strapped but the CM9 is 98% of everything the PM9 is)

My daily carry pistol is a CM9 and its simply a dream to carry and comfy and super accurate to shoot.

I think the CM9 I bought NIB at Cabelas was about $420.00 and a steal at that price for such a great pistol.

I carry a Rohrbaugh in 9mm it is the smallest lightest 9mm, I also have a PM9 which is also very concealable.

I carry the SCCY. It's double stack with 10, but it's been reliable and costs for budget folk. Gen 2 CPX. I had doubts, but knoww more.

^^ I agree.  Also, a Shield or Xds is a fine option.

IMO, with all of the micro 9mm options available, there's really no reason to choose a .380.
