G42 Safty

This caught my eye from Lone Wolf - This to me would be a great add on for my 10mm Glocks.
I'm looking a buying my daughter a G42 and would defiantly add this safty on it for her ( she can't handle a 10mm - O-well - its almost as big as she is - just kidding - maybe later - she tried but the grip was too big for her.)
Put her into a 40S&W Shield instead ( it has a safety )

Honestly, if the gun is intended for any kind of defensive use at all, and not just a range toy - don't add an extra safety to it. Glocks are as safe as any other pistol, when you keep your finger off the trigger. Teach the shooter good trigger control, and carry it in a good holster; it will never go off if you don't touch the trigger.

What bothers me about this safety, is that you have to touch the trigger in order to deactivate the safety. Only time i want to touch the trigger, even on the side & especially in a high stress situation,  is when I am ready to fire. And,  I don't want to take the time to move a crossbolt safety.

I would recommend teaching her good trigger control. That is an invaluable lesson.

I have two G42's & I can't recommend them enough. They are great little guns, very easy to use & to be accurate with. I think it would be a great choice for your daughter.

I have to agree with Yondering on this issue...use as designed.

Accidents have happened such as jacket strings getting inside the trigger guard snagging the trigger as it was holstered.  Same with pocket carry having objects inside the pocket to snag while pushing the pistol inside.

I carry my G-29 or G-30 ina JS IWB Kydex, they cover the trigger and guard hold securely and don't add bulk.  They make them for the G-42 and there are other options as well. http://armory.jsholsters.com/shop/item.aspx?itemid=2060

Don't need another safety on a gun for it's design...

the best safety is between the ears and on the hand. ( meaning Thinking and Trigger finger )

This is a very valid concern that's worth addressing as part of gun handling. The place I train with stresses a slow, deliberate re-holster for this reason. Putting the gun in the holster should be done carefully, while watching what you're doing. No reason to do it fast or blind, and take the chance of a shirt or jacket string causing a discharge.
