Still 14+1, but weights in at 27oz empty. We'll see. It's also been hard to find detailed pics on this particular model with the square slide and forward serrations. I'll resolve that as well, but in the meantime, I'll attach some images I found. Anyone have/had one of these? I hope there's no cracking issues since I want this to be my toss around 10mm. If you've been looking for one of these, with this slide, ya better be very clear with the dealer or get an actual photo first.

Uh, never mind on the attachments. I forgot about the restrictions on here.

What is it you want to know about it? Do you know EBomey?

I'm really good friends with him and he has owned one for a long time and it's a Wonder finish rounded top to boot. As you can see in this video he has the old red follower magazines (problematic) and I told him to switch it to K10's. I don't know if he actually did, but I will send him a message for an update.

IMHO, Stay with fullsize current metal frame on up with Tanfoglios.

;D Oops, I noticed I didn't mention that I purchased this and it's on the way. And was just bragging. Kinda changes the whole tune of the conversation! Sorry about that. lol.

Pictures and a report when you get it  :D

I'm wondering what it has for spring assembly and magazines. I started with a Polymer frame Witness 10mm and bet I could make it run now.

No on the mags.
Runs perfect in Stock setup. No cracks .. That problem seems to be with the all steel version.

I also just ordered one.  Can't wait to get my hands on it.

I gather you're saying from the all steel version means it has the rounded slide? I thought the rounded slide was the culprit all along, and not the frame.

danwe: You getting the same one I got?

danwe

No, I thought it was. Mine is the 12 round version.

The wonder finish slide has been a problem, but a few compact steel frames have cracked too. You should be okay in the polymer version.

Got it. Cleaned and oiled it, grabbed four different types of ammo, and headed to the range.

It's a pretty nice looking gun. The polymer frame is very nicely done and looks like a quality piece. Excellent. My first impression was the weight. It is light! I dropped it on the scale to see if it's actually 27oz, and oops, it's not. It weighed in with an empty magazine at 29oz and 26oz with no magazine. The width of the slide is the same as my StockII at just under 1" (.991). The grip is narrow for a double stack 14+1, and certainly narrower than the StockII. An interesting point is that the left side has no roll marks, ads, nothing except some tiny manufacturer's stamps. The right side has the usual read warnings bit, but that's it.

It's definitely small and light enough to toss into a bag or car and not worry about damage like the 'shiny' high end Tanfos, like my StockII (I'm always so cautious when I take it out for exercise!). Another 'feature' is that I can use my other full size K2 magazines. Very nice, since the Witness only came with one. The trigger is nicer than you'll find on a stock CZ, unless it's out of the Custom Shop. There's much less takeup than a stock CZ, but the break is just as clean. Either way, it could stand a little polishing and tweaking if you're into that kind of thing. I'll end up working the sear and hammer catch to get a crisper break, but won't go crazy with this one.

When I picked it up I headed back home to clean it up and oil it before heading to the range. I noticed right away that the recoil spring was a dual setup running twin intertwined springs, just one a little larger than the other. The larger one looked whacked, like you'd see when you reverse wind a spring and it balloons out. It also did not look like a quality spring setup. At least the guide rod is steel? So I headed to the range with some 10mm's and a couple 9's in tow, a bunch of ammo and a twenty dollar bill for the fee. I started right off with the new Tanfo. I ran PMC Bronze 170gr JHP, PPU 180gr FMJ, HPR 165gr FMJ (HBFP, whatever that stands for), and Underwood 180gr TMJ (1300fps). There were no issues cycling any of it, even when I felt the recoil spring snap. It was that larger one that looked hacked up. So now I'm running on one light spring, but still no cycling issues. It was a very strange feeling. You take the shot and you actually feel the slide cycling into position for the next shot. Like slow motion. But it kept cycling! LOL  :main_ohmy: I did have to hit the back of the slide once to nudge it into place. That single spring could barely cycle the slide, but it still cycled. Amazing is what I'm thinking.

The ammo felt pretty good. Of course the Underwood was the obvious bully of the group, but the others weren't too shabby. I had some Armscor that I didn't take, but should have for a better comparison since I've shot a ton of that stuff. All and all, the ammo used was certainly stronger than a 40 cal, yet the recoil was very manageable on that lightweight 10mm. Except for the Underwood, I could shoot 5 round taps and stay on target (close range).

I got back home and replaced the recoil spring(s) from my StockII test stash, cut to size and tested by feel to match the 18 lb spring in my StockII. Feels great now and that's yet another excuse to head back to the range with another $20 bill and more ammo! That's what retirement is all about!

Intercooler

It sounds very good then! Did you snap a couple of pictures of it?

StockIIBoss

Here's a pic. The rest can be seen in an album @ Witness P-F 10mm Album
