7.62x54r gone already!

 I bought the 7.62x39 tin and probably should have done a 54r as well. The panic has sunk that caliber already!

I am not sure it is so much panic as just demand.  I mean, they have sold several million Mosin Nagants in recent years.  I honcho'd a group buy a couple years ago where we sold 100 to a small group of guys.  Most bought two, many, like me, bought 4-5.

And, because the ammo is cheap, people stock up.  You get substantial discounts if you buy 440 to 880 at a time.

This is different. The stock list was full two weeks ago and now its sold out everywhere. People are talking about it on all the forums. Will 7.62x39 be next? I see that list is shrinking now too

One word, SANCTIONS. Weather one believes it or not there is the possibility. Nobody interested waiting around to see if it happens. They are hedgeing.

It is demand that seems mostly due to possible sanctions from the Wuss in Chief.  I was watching some online sites last week and when the initial sanctions were imminent, it seemed like the online sites pulled their Russia made products from inventory online.  I saw SGammo 762x39 Russian made all go to zero.  once it became clear that the sanctions would be so lame, the inventory numbers came back up.  the 54r ammo from Russia is all surplus from what I understand, so it is really a matter of time when it dries up just like the surplus Yugo M67 ak ammo.

It is tough to swallow, but if you want 54r surplus ammo, it might be prudent to buy what you can because once it is gone the other producers will likely be more expensive and difficult to find.  Nothing worse than a firearm with no ammo to use in it.

Really? I went here and found 39 sources without trying too hard. Not to mention every gun show where I see cases and cases of the stuff.
