You might want to post this under the 10mm Semi-Auto Handguns forum:

Had one, good gun, upgraded to a Kimber target II Stainless, better gun IMO.  I think the Rock is about the best buy for the money in a 1911 you can get.

Also have one. Really love it for the money. Only thing you will want to do is 22# recoil,26# main spring. Good luck. Springs were under 18 bucks. Still a good deal. Accuracy is awesome. Full support bull barrel. Use chip McCormick mags. Using percision cartridge 180 JHP.

How did you determine a 26 lb mainspring. My RI has a 22 main and a 20 lb recoil. It came with a 18 recoil and an unknown main. I put the 22 main in as well as the recoil. I might need to go up more. That's why I'm asking about the mainspring. Steve

Love mine a few upgrades and mods later. My wife even likes shooting it  8)

I was told the recoil spring that came from the factory was a 16 because I was the same one they use in the 45 ACP. Talked with other people in different forums and this was the set up that works best in Rocks. It depends on what type of ammo your shooting. If you shoot FBI forty loads (Hornady, PMC, ect)you should be fine. If you shoot underwood, buffalo bore, ect. You should up spring pressures. Also was told a flat bottom fire pin stop was needed for hotter loads. Due to the fact that Rock Islands are set up on the 70 series firing system.

Oh. By the way nice rig DeltaSteve. Really like what you did.  :)

I'm shooting mostly Remington 180 gr. i've currently got a 20 recoil but shells are still being thrown a good 20 ft. Might have to try the 22lb recoil. But what is the determining factor on the mainspring? Steve

1st post.

I'm shooting heavy loads only. 200, 220 grain UW.
This is my woods carry gun.
22# wolf recoil spring, stock main.
Have not changed this firing pins stop.

What am I missing ?

The reason I believe for these adjustments is for buffering at the back half of the pistol. You covered the front of the pistol by having a heavier recoil spring. The rock in 10mm was springed as a 45. We are shooting a shell with 40% more pressures than a 45 if loaded to Norma specs. These were the down fall of the delta and of course a unsupported barrel which the rock has. My fingers are worth more to me than a 8 dollar spring and a 30$ firing pin stop. I'm just going off what others with more experience than me have suggested. Hope this helps. Just joined this site and have only just purchase my 10 mm 3 months ago, so this is a learning experience for me also. Great site by the way guys. Really love it!

10mmguy, I have not had mine but a couple of months and am learning and searching for all the info I can. I've searched about the mainspring. I bought the 22 mainspring in mine now from Brownell's. Wish I'd have known and I would have got a 26. So, even with a 20 lb recoil spring ,it 's throwing brass a good 20 ft. You think a. 22 recoil would be better ? Steve

Heh Heh, when I got my Fusion Fireaerms custom built 10mm, part of the package was different pound springs to match the loads I shoot. But the one it came installed with works fine. If I got the RIA, I would have some springs to try out in it.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

harleyhopper

With the Fusion and the pkg of additional springs, did it give info on what/when to change. What to be looking for?
