Hey all,
I bought a G-20 gen2 the other day. Field stripped and gave it a quick clean. Funny thing happened as I remove the recoil spring assembly. It has an uncaptured "plastic" rod. Spring seemed as "normal." Please be gentle as my gen 2 knowledge is in the junior status, did the gen 2 G-20 come in captured? The rod looks like the aftermarket stainless rods.....but I wasn't even aware they made a plastic uncaptured rod. I looked at glockmeister real quick and saw no plastic rods offered. Ironic, as I have a habit of replacing the plastic captured outfits with uncaptured stainless ones soon after purchase of the pistol. Thanks....

The old gen 1&2 glock 17 had uncaptured rods 4 sure from the factory. Maybe glock20s did to tho

You may want to check with Wolff Gun Springs http://www.gunsprings.com/index.cfm?page=items&cID=1&mID=5#121
They have the springs and guide rods to cover your needs...

I actually like the non captive springs which I think give a more positive lockup!

Good luck!

Some of the early RSA's were uncaptured. I never heard of this on a Gen 2 though.

The best place for your question would be on the Glocktalk forum under General Glocking. I am thinking that your spring may have been replaced at one point.

I have a Late 89' Gen2 Glock 19 that had an uncaptured factory spring, while my Gen2 Glock 20 from 94' has a captured.  I also had an early gen 1 17 that was uncaptured, wish I had never let that one get away ...... :-[

I apologize for being late on all y'alls replies. Too many posts on too many sites!! Got to trim down. Thank you for the replies. Good to know. I have put an uncaptured in a G-35 for competition. But I like the idea from factory. Maybe it should be a choice, even with today's Glock's.
