I will re-read the rules before foing but I think in california I have to use expanding bullets and in certain parts of the state non-lead as well.  do we have  any penetration numbers for the 155gr loaded at buffalo bore velocities between 1400-1450fps??

I looked on the sheet but there was no link to a video for it. I believe there is one though.

You might want to check with Andrew (Raggedyman).

I've done a couple 155 gr Barnes tests but none at Buffalo Bore velocity. I have some hand loads at higher velocity made up and I plan to get to them fairly soon but I've got A LOT of ammo scheduled for testing. I have heard that higher velocity usually results in deeper penetration with this bullet as opposed to traditional JHP, which typically penetrates less at higher velocity. This is the closest that I have right now:

You have some 1400 FPS (Buffalo Bore load) all coppers there somewhere  ;)

Raggedyman

I'll look for them. I thought the only higher velocity all copper bullets that I had were hand loaded by Shadow.

I might have sent you a Buffalo Bore. You have the Buffalo Bore load that Shadow put into the COP rounds for sure. They shot great for me!

Recently e-mailed Buffalo Bore requesting information on this very question.  Tim's response below:

"10% ballistic gel.--depending on denim or leather layers placed over gel
block, expect 15 to 20 inches of penetration."

Waiting and hoping for someone to post first hand gel test results of BB velocity 155gr. TAC-XP.

Sun's come out again in Tennessee today, so just conducted my own VERY unscientific test of BB 155gr. Barnes. Used 5 (1) gallon plastic milk jugs (filled with water) and denim cover, from about 10 feet.  Fired from Glock 20SF (22lbs retention spring).

Results:
Blew water jugs 1 & 2 apart during pass through.
Penetrated completely through 3rd jug.
Bullet stopped in the 4th jug.
Nicely opened bullet (approx .75) expansion.

Repeated same test using 230 grain HST .45 shot from 1911.
Similar penetration not quite as much damage to 1st & 2nd jugs.

Not worth much but had to do something to feed curiosity.

I have two here I plan on sending to Raggedyman next shipment. Now if we can twist his arm into running them when they arrive  ;D
