I already own a 21SF and multiple 9MM Glocks. I want a G20 but cannot decide which one to purchase. I have read every thread on this board about Gen4 vs SF but cannot decide. Perhaps some of you can sway my decision.

At this point, is the Gen4 RSA up to the task or does frame battering occur with hot loads? I have spare Wolff guide rods for the 21SF and know all about springs. I'm planning to shoot a steady diet of GA 180gr range ammo and probably a good bit of 180gr XTP and varieties from UW.

While function dictates form, I do like the odd colored Glocks and I narrowly missed a Glock 20 Gen4 in FDE on Bud's this evening. It was in-stock for about 30 minutes. Reading some of the threads here though, I am wondering if the SF is not the best route. It seems the OD frame 20SF is a unicorn.

PS - Hi, I'm new here =)

I would go with the sf myself. It has so much more aftermarket support for it. I'm not saying the gen 4 never will it's just nearly non existent at the moment. I would recommend a 22 or 24 lb spring to reliably shoot UW loads.

I have a Gen4 and I recommend the Gen3 SF.

I and seemingly everyone around here that has/had a Gen4 has issues with ammo in the UW power range.  I'm stubborn, and I'm not done messing with springs yet, but so far heavier springs made mine worse, not better.

I guess I don't see a good reason to move away from something that's not broken (Gen3) to something more problematic, as the Gen 4 has proven to be.

Another vote for the Gen 3 SF. I had trouble with my Gen 4, which Glock replaced with a Gen 3. I love it. I use heavier than stock springs even for the lighter loads. I'm using 20lb springs for my carry load of Critical Duty which is not a heavy load at all.

I prefer the smoother grip tecture of the Gen3 on the larger glocks. More comfortable carrying. On my Gen 4 G26 it doesn't matter as much.

Thanks for the input folks. After searching for 2 weeks, I found the unicorn today from Glockmeister. A G20SF OD is inbound to my FFL =)

+1 for the gen 3 - g20 amd a g21(sf with a long slide). Works as expected :)
