Regrettable Trades....sales....

I am new to this forum. And I have that found every time I log on (I think I'm logged on all the time), I start thinking of all the Delta Elite's, and 610's, I have bought and sold/traded. Breaks my heart!! But I suppose it is just a weakness that one must overcome. And I am sure there are a lot of folks on here with that same baggage. First editions, special editions, and just plain purdy ones. And unfortunately, they just don't make 'em like that anymore.....literally. The shining light now however, is that the 10 is making a strong comeback, and many companies are introducing new models. At the top of my want list is the No Dash 5" Classic that I traded a few years back. All original with box, papers, etc. ARGHHHHH!!! What a beauty! Anybody else have some regrets? Oh, and the Delta Elite.....ya, you get the picture. Why?!?!?

There's two guns I regret selling. My Russian SKS, and a Colt Lightening in .22 long (Not .22 LR).
I've never sold a pistol, just traded them for other guns. You would have to have me at the point of death to get either of my 10mm's off me.

Many years ago I sold a Delta Elite to fund an engagement ring. I don't regret the wife...she is great.

But if I had it to do again I would find another way to get the ring.

neo first let me welcome you to the forum.
There have been a few guns the two I would most like to have back are a Belgium Browning Sweet Sixteen and a Colt Diamondback 22, there have also been several cars I wish I still had. ${$default_sad_smiley}$

I have only sold two a Ruger Security Six and P-85...No regrets. ${$default_roll_eyes_smiley}$ I will be giving a third away soon, a G-23 to my brother when we can do the deal. All were/are good guns in their own right. ${$default_wink_smiley}$

nclark2, this being a 10mm forum, I suppose they would be (and are currently) the thorn in my side. But, my weakness is guns. Big, small, doesn't matter. I suppose I have bought and sold more guns in my 52 yrs. than I wish to mention. But some, were just meant to be handed down the lijne of my sons.

Wow, that's a good trade! But why is it when we trade a gun for a gun.....there is mostly regret after some time? Oh, not all the trades, but 50% probably.

Yeah, I gotta say the Security Six I sold is my biggest regret
Followed by the Star, 9mm Firestar
And 180 degrees off of them, would be the Glock 20
I couldn't WAIT to be rid of that thing !
I traded it an $100.00 for my (then) NIB Delta Gold Cup

The guns that I miss the the most are my-

Late 1960's production, S&W Model 29-2 44 Magnum with a 6 1/2" barrel, and
My Ithaca Mag 10 Road Blocker with a factory 18" barrel.

Ah well, live and learn.

Grass is greener right. Actually this is a result of a well documented cognitive bias. We already know the skeletons of the gun we own, but don't know the skeletons of the gun we don't own. As a result we tend to compare the least favorable aspect(s) of what we have to the most favorable aspect(s) of what we don't have.

And, don't dig to deep into cognitive biases unless you really want you world views challenged.

Well my #1 regret is a Winchester model 94-22mag from 1972 unfired in original box with boy scout hunting guide and all. At the time I had no use for it but now I wish I had it to give to my son. Second would be my 629 mountain gun 44 mag.... so many regrets

Holy Cow Pies, I didn't know I was going to actually improve my vocabulary, and general knowledge of the human psyche....that's good stuff bullet!! I read the Anchoring link. Pretty deep stuff. Good read though.....

Yea... I regret selling my CZ-DW Razorback ... but the guy who has it now loves it dearly and takes it deer hunting regularly, plus, I used some of those funds for my Fusion longslide. So i'm okay with it I guess.

Also, every Glock 20 I've sold, I regret. Good news is, I just bought myself a NIB Glock 20SF and took possession yesterday .... ${$default_smiley_smiley}$
