I hunt hogs in Fl. with my 10mm. I've gotten a few with my Delta. Tomorrow I'm going to try out my new Rock Island Armory 10mm. I usually get shots within 10 & 25 yards.

Hey Deerslayer, I moved to Texas a year ago. Been making some headway on developing some land possibilities for doing some Hog Hunting. Can't wait to try a few handguns, and in the process of buying a Remington Model 7 in .260 Rem. that I want to turn into a PigSlayer! Be sure to post a "Post-kill" report.....with pics, of course.

I will for sure Neo. This full moon got them feeding all night. Going to try again this weekend. I got a new Rock Island Armory 10mm that needs to loose its virginity. My buddy witch is a 45 fan just got a Stainless Remington so were going to slip some cypress heads & kick some palmetto flats.

I've been killing hogs in my backyard here in GA for 4 years. Need to pop my G20's cherry too!!!

I'm new to this site and this is my first post.  I don't own a 10mm yet but my friend is offering to sell me his Delta Elite.  I'm just curious what loads you use for hunting hogs.  I've read stories about the unsupported chamber of the DE and you have to be careful not to go too hot.

I've been reading a lot about the 10mm lately and I'm intrigued.

Haybaler, welcome to the forum!  There are loads that will work with the DE that should do well on hogs!  Will you be buying commercial loads or rolling your own?  Either way you can get stuff that will work well.

Best regards!

I won't be doing any hog hunting.  My farm is on the edge of a wildlife habitat area.  I like hiking the cattle and game trails and there have been cougar and wolf sightings.  I just want to carry something that I have confidence in.  Right now I rotate with .357 mag, .45 colt, and .45 acp.  I never thought too much about 10mm until my friend said he would be willing to part with his DE to finance other hunting gear and he knows I'm familiar with the 1911 platform.  My post probably really doesn't belong in the "Hunting" category but I'm looking for any info about the DE.

At 61 years of age I just got started with reloading.  So far I've only done .38sp/.357mag and .45acp.  I've read a lot of stories about unsupported chambers and kabooms so I don't know how much 10mm reloading I would do other than lighter plinking loads.

Gents,
I am pretty new to the site. Interested in hunting pigs. I have Stainless Delta and G20 w Wolf barrel. The G20 is new and I have not shot a lot of rounds down range. I load my own ammo. My buddies have been talking about pig hunting and I am thinking it would be a real hoot.

I like to use hardcast bullets. Hogs got what we call a shield around there chest area. I've seen people shoot them at point blank range with a .44 and hollow points and they would just run off. Same with buckshot I've skinned them out before and find bullets in or just under the hide. I'm still trying to get one with my Rock Island 10mm but just haven't got any in range yet. I may try and get in a stand or blind this weekend. I just ordered some DoubleTap 230gr. witch are like 223.0 but still a good chunk of lead. I just don't like hollow points on hogs because they open up to soon. On a deer hollow point all the way. Hornady 200XTP a real good deer stopper. Deer Slayer
