KSG awesomeness

Got me a new toy, all because I couldn't find a 10mm 1911 locally! Holds 15 2 3/4 shells or 25 mini shells.

Very cool.  I actually have on in my gunsafe right now, but it isn't mine.  I am storing it for a friend who is out of the state for work until June.

Handles very nicely, and I like the compact form factor.

Don't forget a range report when you actually get it out and shoot it.

I purchased a KSG also, but the weather is so $hitty I have only been out with it once.

I am always a little suspicious of KelTec stuff but I think they have hit on something here.  I have always like their designs, but their manufacturing leaves something to be desired.

The KSG ran flawlessly after the first round.  I shot-stoked it, but after that no problems.  I have a Burris red dot on top, a flashlight/laser  and a vertical forearm grip on the bottom.  I put a couple of boxes of birdshot through it with no problems.  Works well on milk jugs.

Two things I do not like.  1)  The tube magazine selector switch is too small and hard to find.  There are after market ones available that are larger.  2)  The forearm is plastic with a molded in rail.  Everything attached to it easily, but I question its durability.

As soon as it warms up and we get rid of some snow, I will find out more.  I have some 00 Buck and some #4 buck to try next.

I considered the KSG but after reading some reviews decided to go with a Benelli M2

Let me start this off by saying that the KSG is no Benelli!

If maximum home protection is what you are after, the Benelli would win in my opinion.  The KSG is still a formidable home defense weapon.  Besides that it is half the price and it is fun which I guess is part of what I was after.

While waiting for the price to come down, I watched all the reviews and they were mixed at best.  KelTec has made some changes in their design and and believe me, the KSG does not look like your usual KelTec product.  The plastic forearm/rail is some concern with a vertical forearm grip, but if I was real concerned, I would buy the after market steel rail which attaches over it, and I still might do that.  I am somewhat concerned about the light holding up first.

I called KelTec service this AM and asked if the forearm was strong enough for a vertical forearm grip.  The Service Rep says he has one on his KSG and has shot about 500 rounds through it with no problems,  I asked if it was covered under warranty  with the grip added to the gun and he said "absolutely!".

I want one of these, actually it would be nice to get the opportunity for me to shoot one before I buy it.  I am also not real crazy about dropping the coin to buy a Keltec that this shotgun is currently demanding.

I agree that they are very expensive for a "KelTec".  If law enforcement is buying them at the rate that it is reported, I doubt that they will come down a lot more.  I feel that it is a good firearm and I have enjoyed it.

Once you get it there are still more costs.  With the bullpup design some kind of sights have to be added and that can be expensive.  Not a cheap toy.

I handled one? of these yesterday and they make me smile right up until the price tag. I was thinking why didn't I get one of these...and then I saw the two Shockwaves? for the price tag of one KSG.
