I wanted to complete the data set for Double Tap 10mm and these are the last two. This week I managed to sell a bunch of other rounds (I don't have 4949shooter's money tree yet  ;D) to do what I find most interesting... Put the ammo to the tests! I also lucked into a 10% discount code that actually worked!
Both were velocity tested by David before in a stock Glock and they were pretty slow. I think it warrants doing them again and having The Shadow pull them down. The Equalizer I want to send to Raggedyman for a gel test as well. It will be a little challenge for him since it is a three projectile round  8) The information about the ball hitting 2" from the main HP means he will need to double-stack gel blocks to get all of it.  ;)

Not sure just how well I would make out pulling an Equalizer, 135gr. JHP over a 95gr. lead ball @ 1040fps.
It is said to be one one round ball.  Hey, new learning experience, the ball may get beat up some on removal, not a big deal.
At least we will see what power and how much is used to make it go bang!   ;D

What bullet is used for the 230 Hardcast? Is it Double Tap's own making?

The_Shadow

Not sure where he gets his cast bullets or if he is cast them.  He probably is getting them made from another company.

I tested Double Tap's now discontinued 215gr and it was 1201 FPS average with a better Meplat. It seems that would be a good compromise if the bullet is available.

For the 230gr Hardcast it looks like the rating went from the normal Glock 4.6" barrel to a 1911 5"  ;D

I'm taking the 6" too, just in case we can't hit the 5" numbers  ;)

I really want to see what this 2-projectile round does in gel. A 135gr Nosler with a 95gr ball behind it giving two wound channels  :o

230 at 1120?

I'll take some of that...if it hits the mark.

Somebody (who??) said that Mike Mcnett was increasing his numbers again due to all the competition (read Underwood and Buffalo Bore). I would like to see these bad boys hit 1120 out of a 5 inch barrel. This would work out perfect when I get the Lone wolf 5.15 tactical length.  ;)

Intercooler

That's like 1050 FPS in a Glock 4.6 right? Isn't that kind of weak?  :(

No it didn't. Don't forget, I have the LoneWolf tactical barrel coming.

This and the 165gr 9mm are going to be a challenge. Doubletap's site says the ball hits 1" high everytime so a normal hold should prevent a Chronograph hit. I hope the first projectile (HP) makes it through for a reading without the second projectile (Ball) tripping it. Maybe it won't matter!

Don't mess up your chrono....it's not worth it!

Better off sending them to Andrew for a gel test.  8)
