I have a gen 3 20 that I'm VERY happy with. My wife is really good with the 9mm. I loaded some 180gr berrys with 5gr of 231, the slide barley cycles this round with the stock spring setup in the gen 3 and they hit right by her feet.

I suggested getting the glock 20 gen4 and I'll download the 180's with 231 to work her up to the 40 S&W loads and if she wants more then its just a matter of going to #9, powerpistol for the stouter loads. We bought the gen 4 and got it home and the rear site was so badly ms-aligned I took it back the next day and a guy took it in the back and pushed it back to the center. I started to look at this gun very close and there are scratches behind the rear sight and on the side of the gun, more scratches right on the face right beside the barrel and a few on the side of the slide as well. I wiped down the inside of the slide and wow, this slide looks like it has close to 4K rounds through it. My gen 3 slide looks better than the brand-new gen4 on the inside of it, when I say inside of it I mean slide removed and barrel out holding the slide in my hand.

Has anyone ever bought a brand-new Glock with the rear sight misaligned like this? I measured it and it was 17K off, you could tell just by looking at it it was not straight. I have seen quit a few brand-new glocks NIB and not one ever looked this rugged. It's so disappointing I cant explain it. I thought my wife will see what a great gun this is and I'll get to check it out b4 I give up my gen3, but now, I dunno if I want another glock if factory quality has fallen off this much? Honestly, I love Glocks but this has me very concerned.

Was it a pre-owned gun?  Is it possible it was it a range gun they sold you?  It should not be that messed up, scratched up if factory fresh.  There have been some unhappy people as it pertains to the 4th Gen guns and their functioning.

It seems things are not right! ???

With such a light load you may want a softer spring rate to maintain function with a lower impulse load.

About the sight...My G-29 new out o the box had its sight drifted too far to the right.  I used a piece of 3/8" wooden dowel rod which is carefully shaped to fit the shape of the sight and taped it over to the left, problem solved.

Good luck!

I'm one of those that was unhappy with the Gen 4. Although, mine was perfect looking internally & externally when I bought it. It just would not cycle any heavier loads properly. Glock exchanged it for me with a Gen 3. My wife & I are much happier with the Gen 3. It works flawlessly with all loads that we've tried in it & we prefer the Gen 3 grip. Plus there are more aftermarket guide rods & springs available for the Gen 3. Wolff makes a large variety of spring weights to use with the lightest to heaviest loads, from 10 lbs to 24 lbs.

No not a range gun, I priced a brand-new one, I paid 622.00 out the door and they had to order it. My wife picked it up, I diden't think anything about it as my whole family does business there. I ordered a KKM barrel as it will fit both the gen 3 and 4 Glocks, the gen 3 RSA is about wore out. I doubt the gun would even cycle with that 22# recoil spring that's coming in the mail with the 5gr of 231 behind the berrys 180's. I do love that gen 3 SF and was considering selling it but that's not an option now. If the gen 4 does not perform as good as my gen 3 then well, I dunno. My son said look, Glocks already have a performance record that shows this is a successful platform, don't blame the gun for something this minor. He's the type of guy that would have just reset the sight and went blasting with it. I'll wait on that adapter so I can put the old gen 3 spring in the new gun for the ole lady's loads and if she likes it then its hers. I would like to see what its gonna do with some full house loads! The cosmetic thing does not bother her at all and I simply don't understand that.

Thanks for listening folks, I'll give an update on performance after we burn some powder through it.

I've heard more and more folks who aren't happy with the Gen 4s which is why when I bought my G29 I went with a Gen 3. Sure there are some things that are nicer like the grip  and the magazine release button but it seems like the Gen 4 could use some more work.

Happy with my gen4 G20.  No problems ever with any load.  I even swapped the barrel for a KKM and had slide milled for RMR.  I am not a Glock guy at all,  just a 10mm guy that prefers striker fired plastic pistols.
