hey guys,i am wondering if you have any data for an economical midrange cast lead load.they will be shot out of my 1911's.thanks,marty

What powder do you have?  or can find at this point?  If you need a powder recommendation...
Power Pistol or Silhouette may be economical if you can find them...
LongShot, Blue Dot, 800X, AA#7, AA#9 are great top end load performance but usually cost more.

Unique is my go to powder for 175 grain lead at 1000 fps.  Nice mid range load.  6.8 grains is a great load.  1000 rounds per lb.

right now I have bluedot,hs-6,trueblue,bullseye and a few others I can't think of right now and am fortunate to have access to a lot more.what bullet are you using sqlbullet?thanks, marty

I use 10.4 grains of Blue Dot for 156-180 grain cast bullets sized to 0.401" for a nice target load.
Hodgdon's website shows HS-6 for several weights of bullets, 8.0 - 8.2 grains should be nice for cast bullets from 200gr down.

Bullseye is OK but if you have worked with it you are aware it is very fast and can be double charged and go un-noticed if not careful.  6.4 would be good for cast bullets in the 150-180 grain range.

True Blue I haven't used, but my books show some target stuff for the 40S&W that could be used in the 10mm with the same bullets.

If you get to a specific bullet weight and whether cast or copper it would be easier to give a specific load for a specific powder.

I run a Lee 175 SWC TL.  From my mold it actually weights 172-173 grains with lube.

I also loaded up some berry's 180 grain TC with 6.7 grains of Unique.  They ran 1035 fps average out of my Para P16/10mm and 1040 fps average out of my Witness.

Bullet:Berry's TCWeight:180
Primer:Wichester LPCOL:1.26

Pressure Comments:No signs of excess pressure were noted.
Notes:Fed well in Glock and Witness.  P16 sensitive to COL had most rounds hang partially chambered.  If seated to 1.250 reliability would be 100%

thanks for the replies.i am looking into cast bullets around 175-180 grains.i don't cast bullets so that's not an option.i have bullseye on hand but usually use it for .45 acp and a mild 44 magnum load.i try to keep away from bullseye if I can and use a powder that fills the case a little better

7.6gr Longshot with a 200gr WFN cast boolit is a nice easy target load at 1100 fps
