About the 10.1 grain charge of powder in the Hornady 155 grain XTP load;  Might that be Power Pistol?

Hornady claims 1265 FPS.

The 10.1 155 gr Horady Load is maybe powder pistol, (1265/551)  that amount of Power Pistol would certainly over.  There are some identifier flakes in the Hornady155 and Blazer pull-downs. They are larger flakes that are translucent grey color with the performance similar to Blue Dot by weight.  Could be a non-canister blend. :(

After I have looked at even more powders, the 180 Hornady may well be similar to RamShot Silhouette although the charge weight may be a little high for velocity (1180/556)  HS-7 maybe and would fit.  Just not sure I haven't seen that load in person and major commercial loaders have access to non canister grades specially blended for them.  :(

I know it's not Sillhouette which looks much more similar (but different) to AA#7 & AA#9.

I don't know what HS-7 looks like.  Does HS-7 look like the discs in the pic?

Honestly I'm highly doubting it's a blend.  Though it is not like I can say I have any real reason to say it is not either.  It's certainly not a Superformance powder load. ;D

I would doubt it, but what do you think about it being Alliant Steel?

Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

HS-7 is one of the powders I don't have pictures of or on hand.  I have never seen it in person or pictures either.  The load data for that powder seems to fit the values.

If any one can post a picture of HS-7 (HS-7 in a scale pan fairly close up), I would be grateful and add it to my files. 8)

BTW, HS-7 is used very simular to Blue Dot By Weight and velocity yields are close...usually Blue Dot provides slightly more velocity for same weights of both powders.

After some thought I'm at a total loss regarding what powder is used in either of the Hornady loads.

Given the amount of ammo Hornady loads, it is most likely something that we can't buy on the shelf.

There is the possibility of BE-86 being used in the 155gr Hornady and the 200 CCI Blazer, I had mentioned that the powder had what looked like Power Pistol with some sort of identifier in the mix.
*(Comparing this to BE-86 powder which has an identifier of slightly larger, translucent, off color flakes in the mix.  Only testing will show which is which)

It would be great if BE-86 ended up being the magic powder they had been using.

Zombie thread!

I found an old box of DT 135 grain in the closet this morning.  Pulled three and am quite certain it is Longshot.  The charge was between 11.4-11.5 for all three, seated to a COL of 1.245".

Going to work up towards this load and see what velocities I get compared to the DT.
How did it go? Was it Long Shot?
