I took my S&W 1076 to the range today. Targets were vaporized. The thing is scary accurate. Yeah I know it is the Indian and not the Arrows but the 1076 certainly makes it easy. I ran about 350 rounds through it. Some was some 170 gr Lead SWC Loads. pretty dirty but fed fine. Then I brought out the Underwood 180 gr TMJs and 135 gr HPs. It is definitely a true 10mm round. I was on the rifle range next to an AR, an AK47, and a hunting rifle probably a 270. Every time I cooked off one of those Underwoods people were looking at my lane. It definitely made a huge boom. The 1076 is a great pistol know matter what you feed it. It is accurate and handles even the hottest loads. I paid 850 for it almost a year ago paid for the S&W verification letter (it is an FBI issued one) so for under 900 I have an outstanding pistol. It is one of the finest weapons I've shot. It is a shame S&W doesn't still make them even at the 1200.00 per unit (I once asked S&W how much they would be if made today) they are still a deal. I may need to add a 1066 (I like where the decocker/safety is a little bit better and a full size 1006. Even if I don't the 1076 is a keeper.

For those wondering I saw a few smiles on some of the cases.

Also I don't recommend shooting 350 rounds of 10mm hot stuff like Underwood in a single session. My wrist is definitely a little stiff tonight.

Congrats!  The S&W 10xx line up are great pistols, built like tanks!  Just take care of it, be careful of the small levers under the grip panels as it can be damaged if mis handled or if the grips are installed wrong.

Are you using the factory recoil spring or did you get a newer stronger weight?  ???  I run the Wolff 20lb & 22lb depending on some loadings.

I have a fresh factory recoil spring in it. It seemed to run great with it. I tried it side by side with my friends EAA Witness 10mm and my felt recoil with the same loads was a bit less with the 1076. I tried a 22lbs Wolff spring and it was a little too stout so went back to the factory one.

I hear ya!  I use the 20lb in the 1066/1076/1086 pistols and the 22lb in the 1006/1026/1046, however the 24lb spring I have for the 5" models is very stout to cycle the slide and I only use it for certain load testing and development.

I have Bar-Sto 40S&W and 9x25Dillon conversion for my S&W1006 and both cartridges work well with the 22 lb spring.

Welcome to the 10XX club P33v3, you are ruined now! Go ahead, get another one, add it to your Christmas list, get a second job, or pawn yor family heirlooms. Whatever you do, I'm sure there will be another one in your future and I don't even charge for my psychic predictions. ;D

I've had it for almost a year now. Just got around to writing a range report. I only wish that S&W had made a version of the 10XX series that was similar size-wise to my 4513TSW. I'd like a smaller one for IWB carry with athletic shorts. I'm not the biggest Glock fan but it looks like the Gen4 Model 29 may be the only option for that. I'm one of those Gen 2, Gen 3 S&W Semi Autp fans. But you're right, a 1006 and a 1066 are likely to be in my future with the 1066 becoming a daily carry (although for now the 1076 will be). After that the 1076 may become a safe queen. Why? Because the way the safety lever is on most of the 3rd Gens you get a "handle" that even with slick hands you can still rack the slide.

Man I wish S&W had come out with a 1013 TSW. I have a 4513TSW and a 3913TSW that are excellent.
