Thanks for the update. Was about to post this when I saw that MCQUADE had posted it in the Guns and Ammo thread. So I split the topic and put MCQUADE'S link here. Looks like they did the right thing. Here is the email I got from Guns and Ammo:

Dynamic changes for "Guns & Ammo" have been in development for many preceding months, and were to first appear in the March issue. Given recent events, we will move forward and begin implementing these changes effective immediately.

Dick Metcalf has had a long and distinguished career as a gunwriter, but his association with Guns & Ammo has officially ended.

The February issue will mark the introduction of Eric R. Poole as the new editor of "Guns & Ammo" magazine. Eric has previously written features with "Guns & Ammo" on new products and has contributed to the "Modern Sporting Rifles" column every other month. He's known for his passionate advocacy of Second Amendment rights, and continues to be a lifelong student of all things related to firearms. Most recently, you may recognize him for having been the editor-in-chief of special interest publications  produced by "Guns & Ammo," including "Book of the AR-15," "SNIPER," "Surplus Firearms," "Book of the AK47," "TRIGGER" and many others since 2009.

Eric Poole is himself a long-time reader of "Guns & Ammo" and brings with him a fresh vision for the magazine and digital products. In the coming months he will introduce new contributors carrying credible backgrounds, thoughtful content and a new style. He is a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, a Marine combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom, a smallbore and highpower rifle competitor, gun collector, as well as a marksmanship instructor. During his formative years, he worked for four years at the NRA headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. He views the opportunity to lead "Guns & Ammo" as the ultimate achievement in his shooting career, which began decades ago with his father, himself a retired police officer and gun enthusiast.

Every reader is extremely important to Guns & Ammo magazine and we value our relationship with you. I ask you personally to maintain your support of Guns & Ammo magazine and give Eric Poole the opportunity to continue the prominence that "Guns & Ammo" has had in promoting all types of firearms, firearm sports and – firearm rights – since it was first published in 1958.

Sincerely,
Chris Agnes

G and A Official Response.

  Sorry, I'm not impressed.
Bequette published the Article, he read the article, he new what was in the article, he knew what the article meant, IMO he Agrees with the Article.  Then when his subscribers get pissed, he fires the author of the article.  That's pretty Chicken Shit.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Metcalf is gone, we have enough problems trying to protect out rights, we don't need people like him writing anti  Second Amendment articles in the future.

Then Berquette, throws us another bone saying he is resigning as well.  Well, not really resigning because of his actions, just resigning a few day/weeks early.  Thanks for nothin.

IMO there is no apology that can fix the damage this article will generate.  The Antis and the Bradys will wave this article in our faces for months to come.

G&A is too much advertising anyway. When we can't depend upon them to be our voice then they are done as far as I'm concerned.

Article on Yahoo today about Guns & Ammo causing stir.

I'm glad they are making concrete changes, however late. I agree, the article should never have been posted, but it was, and it costs them. I like ol dock's writings, but as a Minister, I can attest that there are some plces where Religion and Politics just don't fly...this was one of them. What did someone say...he had a Jim Zumbo moment? lol.

The last thing we need in the ranks in times like this are high-profile Quislings.

Actually the last thing gun owners need is to look like a bunch of zealots unwilling to have a discussion, and using the same bullying tactics used by the left in threatening advertisers in order to muzzle a conflicting point of view.  The first amendment holds equal weight or maybe even more, being first, as the second.  By not supporting Metcalf's freedom of speech, how can you expect any neutral party to support your right to keep and bear arms.  This is starting to sound too much like Republicans/Tea Party, and look what happened to them in the recent elections.

Freedom of speech is a protection against the government controlling your speech. . The supreme court has ruled repeatedly that it doesn't protect you from private citizens, employers etc. And the very premise of his article was incorrect anyway. He was wrong about the meaning of "well regulated."

Correct.  He was Wrong and was called on it.  Freedom of speech has nothing to do with it.  He can say and write as he see fit, but when he is Wrong, be prepared to suffer the consequences.
