LSWC in the 1911 10MM?

I have a few 10mm Molds, a Lee 175gr TC, Lee 175gr TC HP, Lee 175gr SWC Tumble Lube and a MH 180gr HP .

All of these molds work well and the bullets shoot well, all but the Lee SWC Tumble Lube mold.  I have 3 10MM 1911's and an EAA Elite Match, none of these pistols shoot this bullet for crap.

Not like I need another mold, but I like the SWC design and it works great in my 45 1911's and I would like a different SWC 10MM mold.  I would like one if I can get it to shoot.

So, do you think my lack of accuracy is due to the Lee Tumble lube design and the way I am casting them or do you think it's just not the right design for a 10MM 1911?

I guess what I am asking is do any of you guys cast/purchase SWC for your 10MM and how do they shoot?

I was thinking about this one.  What do ya think?

I have the Lee 170 TCPB mould and my 1911's do not like it either, will not consistently chamber. Nose might be to long.
I have a Lee 45-230gr TLdesign that shoots great in my Ruger 1911 CMD 45 ACP so I don't think it is the TL design .

Steve I started out with the RCBS 175 Gr TC SWC (this one has a very slight SWC but has been very accurate from my S&W 1006.  I like 0.4015" for the diameter of my 10mm bullets.  If you like, maybe I could send you some to try out.

The trouble with the LEE TL may be the size and shallow grooves, What is your diameter of those?

Most of the SWC are seated damn near to the edge of the SWC for feeding purposes.

I've been shooting a 148 gr LSWC from a mold maker that has quit business that looks very much like the Accurate bullet you have listed.  It works without problems in my .40  barrel in my Kimber target II 10 mm.  I haven't tried it with I the 10 mm barrel since it is light and I use it for plinking, but I would think it should feed even better in a full length case.

They measure .401.  I like to size my 10mm bullet to .402.

Do you think the accuracy issue is because of the TL design or the SWC design?

Thanks for the offer on the bullets.  I'll get back to you on that. :)

I have the LEE 6cav .401-175 TC design. If you want to try  some PM me I will send you 30 or so. I can send them unsized if you want.

Tumble lube are meant to be used as cased sized with no sizing needed.  0.4010" should work.  The bore riding bands are somewhat small on the TL in my opinion.

If you run them too hot, the bullets may skid before taking to the rifling, if they are soft, further reducing diameter.  But you would likely see that amount of leading.  This is why I like the heavier driving bands in front and behind the lube groove for 10mm to grab the rifling.

If you crimp too much, you can also reduce the bullet size, pulling the bullet after crimping and measuring it may show the reduced diameter.  This can also be a problem with the use of the LEE factory crimp die, as it will squeeze the cartridge case thus reducing the diameter of the bullets.  Jacketed bullets being smaller already usually not affected like the cast bullet.

Then again some guns just don't like some bullets.

Thanks for the offer, but I have that mold in TC and TCHP.  The plain TC is my most accurate 10MM bullet right now.  Better than the HP and better than my MH 180gr HP bullets.
