Hornady 165 Grain Critical Defense vs. 175 Grain Critical Duty

I shot both of these rounds today for the first time through my Glock 20SF. The 165 grain Critical Defense felt like a hot .40 S&W load more or less.

The 175 grain Critical Duty was noticeably "peppier" than the Critical Defense, I would say more akin to a .45 ACP +P load or a little more. I think it felt slightly weaker than the Winchester Silvertip.

Honestly, though not full power 10mm, I wouldn't hesitate to carry either of these loads for self defense against human attackers. I give the edge to the 175 grain load, and actually, I kind of liked it.

There is most definitely better out there. And there is worse. Accuracy with each load was outstanding which I have come to expect from anything Hornady puts out.

My buddy fired 100 rounds of CCI Blazer with no issues as well.

I have read that the Critical Duty out performs the Critical Defense round.  How did the Blazer ammo compare with the Hornady ammo?  Did it seem to have a pretty good kick to it?  That's the 200gr Blazer right?

My buddy shot the Blazer, so I can't comment on them.  I have shot PMC 200 grain, which is ballistically the same as the Blazer, and they were not as potent as either Hornady round.
