Here is a link to a thread on the FBI government issue 10mm ammo. Supposedly this is/was a 190 grain bullet.

Has anyone ever shot any of this? I would be interested to know the power level, accuracy, etc.

I have recovered many casing as shot from the MP-5 10mm from the range as used by the FBI and Navy Seals.  All of it was Federal cartridge casings and had the distinctive marks from the fluted chambers.  Many of those cases were split upon firing.
The only loaded rounds I recovered there contained 180 FMJ's and were loaded to "Sub Sonic"...

Sierra used to make a 190 grain bullet but I don't think it was bonded.  So did Federal make their own 190gr bonded JHP?
Federal Classic silver box 190 grain JHP with a code of XM1003A

These were 180 grain XM1001A

I know that Alliant used to list a 190 grain JFP using Power Pistol 8.2 grains @ 1,200 fps 35,900 psi.

Thanks Shadow.

A 190 grain bullet at 1200 fps doesn't sound bad at all. I figured maybe you or some of the other long time 10mm guys may have fired the 190 grain
federal load.

Found some interesting reading about the H&K guns including the MP-5 10mm

Also best info from what I could find was the Federal XM1003A 10mm was a 190 grain Bonded JHP and was loaded to 925-950 fps. ::)  Some said that they think it was 1030 fps from 5" barrel.

Thanks for the link, Shadow.

I am thinking that 1200 fps number might be attributed to the longer barrel of the MP5-10.

American Rifleman current issue I got yesterday has an article about FBI long arms.  They include about a paragraph on the MP5/10.  In it they state the FBI used their reduced power load as the gun would not hand "full power 10mm".

That makes me think this 190 grain load would have been in the 950 fps load from a 5" barrel.  The MP5/10 had an 8.9" barrel, which should be good for about another 150-175 fps, putting this load in the 1100 fps range.

Interesting and thanks for the info. I believe a full auto mag of 190 grain 10mm ammo at 1100 fps will ruin any bad guy's day!
