I'm very happy to see no .400 caliber XTP bullet listed! Those are what I'm mostly waiting on at this time.

BTW, nice insight toward how one major manufacturer is handling the current firearms/ammo situation. It also helps put things in perspective.

I also am happy about no 40 cal xtp listed for components. But amazing how much they really do produce. Wow ${$default_shocked_smiley}$

I look at that list and wonder what will they have left to produce? It looks like they will still be manufacturing 10mm 180 XTP and 165 FTX.

A call to Hornady (1-800-338-3220, 8am-5pm Mon.-Thurs. and Friday till 4:30pm, Central Time) Monday morning would probably tell all.

I will say some of the items on the list very much surprise me. Others, not in the least.

I think this is a case of maximizing profits and protecting contracts.

They have enough capacity to make X rounds per day. They have certain contractual obligations which govern how they spend a certain amount of their production capacity. If they can sell immediately ALL of the excess beyond the contract commit, regardless of caliber/cartridge, why not make only cartridges that return the highest profit.

We have already seen this in other areas. AR makers are mostly making just 5.56 uppers these days. Not that there isn't other demand, just they make quite a bit more money on a 5.56 than a 300 BLKT.
