I wonder how much stock they had to begin with.  From the git go I couldn't imagine it being that much.  Anyway, glad some 10mm-firearms members got their hands on some.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

ATK loads the 200 grain Gold Dot in .40. It is a law enforcement only load, though I don't know of any agencies that are currently carrying it.

Here are the ballistics on it in .40:

I would like it see it loaded in a 10mm factory load at 1150 to 1200 fps.

I think .700" is possible.
The 200 gr XTP's went .500"+ in wetpack ,they peeled back to far.
Nosler 200gr HP expanded to .700" and stopped .

I'll be watching for the hands on reviews.  Like 45BBH, I too wonder how similar they do or don't look to a 180gr Gold Dot.  Being it would seem they were designed solely for 40S&W, in 10mm @ 1200 or more FPS I expect they should blow open pretty good in wetpack or gel.  Is 1" expansion out of the question? :-\

And the noslers are readily available and rather inexpensive.  That is why I keep them around.

It will be fun to find out.  I do expect the Gold Dots will do better than .750".  I guess we'll see.

I know its all speculation right now till someone puts it through some ballistic gel with 4 layers of denim.

But I believe this could be the cast meow at 1250 fps.

Looking forward to a report

Keep us informed please.

I would love to find a bunch of these for reloading.  I would get a 1000.

I'm leaning that way too.

At one time Speer used to sell the 200gr Gold Dots IT was TMJ's as components and loadings were shown in the Speer #12 manual.
CORRECTION...The bullet shown in Speer #12 is the 200 grain TMJ  (MY BAD!)

BTW the load with the most velocity in #12 was 14.0 grains of AA#9 using a CCI350 primer @ 1216 fps from a S&W1006 5"

For those who purchased the 200gr GDHP's what velocity and or loads would you be trying in your quest?  ???

What velocity will you be looking for?
What make casing?
What powder?
What charge weight?
What primer?
What COL seating length?

Will these be based off of personal loads?, factory loads?, other?

Of course I will have to look at the bullet length and bearing surface vs. 200 gr. XTP but I'm trying for 1150-1200 FPS. Starline cases, 1.255-1.260 COAL, CCI LP primers, Longshot, AA#9, 800X. Charge weight? Reduce a bit from 200 XTP level and work back up. This bullet may end up performing better at 1050-1100 but we'll have to test to know for sure.

If Speer is still producing the 200gr GDHP bullets you would think that Underwood could do a bulk buy and provide them in 10mm cartridges or sell some as components.  ???

With so many middle men in the selling process, it has driven up the prices, mostly because of shipping charges! :o

Given the current state of affairs, those who purchased these 200 GDHP's may well be a blessing in disguise!  8)
Has anyone heard any thing yet about their orders?

I know they have a two week before contacting them which will be Tuesday or Wednesday this coming week so I suppose someone is likely to see their package possibly!  ???

Shadow,

They are still making them.   I sent an e mail and they replied they are still making the 200 gdhp.

Just to let you know

Brian

The_Shadow

Thanks, I figured that they were seeing them listed in their 40S&W Law Enforcement ammo lineup... ;)
