Hey guys I'm getting tired of trying to find my 10mm brass in the rocks at my outdoor range. I'm curious is there a good brass catcher that doesn't hook onto the gun itself that works really well. Have you all just made your own or is there a good one you can purchase that works. These 10's sling brass about 20 to 25' from my 1911's.

Around my club they use tarps in the general area where the brass lands, the best bet though is a large (1/4") net.  Something on the order of 9X12 seems to catch the majority.  We have both brass eating rocks in some pistol bays, and brass eating grass in others.  After shooting you check the margins, then funnel the brass to the middle,  Takes a while to set up, but moves fast when you are through.

I tried the tarp thing but my tarp wasn't big enough I guess.  :)) I'll have to take my extra large camping tarp next time I guess I'm getting tired of trying to find brass in the rocks.  :(

I've got one of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/I-T-M-UNIVERSAL-BRASS-CATCHER-TRIPOD-MOUNTED-FREE-STANDING-/281020116696?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item416e1aaed8  once you get your ejection trajectory correct :) , Note: I use mine with a tripod.

Not seller or related to ect........

That looks pretty neat Steve and not too costly. How's it work for you and I take it the tripod is something you have to pick up extra. Where did you get your tripod and does it need a special attachment. Thanks for the link and imfo also.

Just a standard camera base thread, I just center it at the top of the ejection arch mark where i'm standing. After I got the hang of it, I'm catching 98%+ of my brass.  I'd just buy a tall enough one off eBay or craigslist.

Good Luck  ;D

Thanks again Steve I'll have to check one out, its got to be better than a tarp I would think.

I made this one out of PVC and a Net Laundry Bag
If I use it standing, I use a longer piece of Steel Pipe and set the Base on the ground

Or here's one from MidwayUSA

The Frame is 24" X 24"
The Top is 12" deep

Four Elbows, two Corners and one Riser Tee
The Sides, Top pieces are cut at 21.5" (four needed)
The Bottom is a total of 21.5 with the Tee in place (two pieces plus Tee, one needed)
the Sides of the Top differ by the type of Corner you buy, but cut to total 12" Depth (a 12" Riser will work here, two needed)

The Bottom of Frame

The Top Frame

Great pics and Thanks for sharing and the added effort. You could probably make those and sell them it looks very effective and just what I need or someone with a catchers mitt.  ;D
