I have been interested in the 10mm since the beginning.  I kinda started a collection of them.  I have all the S&W 10xx except one model.  Of all the 10mm I have the S&W 1006 is my favorite 10mm.  I hunt with G20 most of the time because they are ubiquitous.  After market parts can make the G20 on par with most pistols.

The 1006 is a big pistol.  This one is still new in the box and never been shot.  I have another that has been a work horse.

Although I have shot 45 hardball competition for decades I never felt comfortable with a 1911 hunter

rustytxr, welcome to the forum. Nice looking S&W 1006.   I have had mine since early March 1990 and it sports the adjustable sights.  These sights are finer and offer a better target acquisition at distances even out to 130 yards in my younger years with good eyesight.

I understand the predicament of these without readily available parts access.

Let me guess it is the S&W 1046 that is missing from your collection... ;D  That is understandable seeing that they only made 151 of them and if one comes up for sale they run $3000+ with the last great quality one being sold at $3350.
Yes one is in my meager collection and I paid a fair price for mine considering the market.

S&W's not being readily replaceable, I too moved to a Glock 29 for daily carry and in the field while hunting.  It has filled this role nicely.

You are correct.  No s&w 1046.  Congratulations on your pistol.  I gave more than I thought I should for my 1076 but it was a clean one.  I carried it a good bit.  I shot it in several IDPA matches (that didn't have any weak hand targets :)).  For my 70th birthday I bought a 10mm Wilson hunter.  Don't think I'll ever spend that much on  pistol again.  I enjoy shooting it but you could buy a lot of glocks for the price.

Wow, a 10mm Wilson hunter is a nice solid piece also... 8)
Yes, it was the same when I recently got a deal on a Original Bren Ten, could have bought 3 brand new G20's.
Then with this addiction, I just picked you a G-20SF at a good price almost new in the box with a bunch of ammo just because we only live once!  That and I already had a 6" 9x25Dillon barrel for one... ;D

Definitely a nice collection of 10mm platforms you have!

Any chance you could post a pic of the chamber support (where you're taking a pic of the barrel apart from the gun with a round in the chamber showing the 6 o'clock position as when viewed at an angle peering up the feed ramp to the round in the chamber at the case web support at that point) in your 10mm Wilson Hunter?

I know those Wilson Combat guns are pretty top notch, but we don't get to see some of the details since there aren't a lot of owners of them around here.
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

This is my BIG 10. Fusion Firearms custom built 6" long slide Hunter.

Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

rustytxr

gandog56, nice!  I hope it is as accurate as it looks :)

It's so new I haven't taken it to the range yet. But it has a high bar to go by. Here's a target from my Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm! I'm hoping the inch longer barrel will do even better.

Have used a few over the years and the most comfortable being I get in and out of a vehicle and put the holstered weapon back in the seat is the Kramer Horsehide MSP..

Intercooler

Which other 10 platforms you have in the stable?

I think I have them all but a Glock  ;)

So the 1006 is the favorite? I like mine too but... the trigger. Still can't let it go.

Have 3 right now--all 1911's, a Colt from the Custom Shop, a Wilson, and a Terry Tussey. Have owned others but the 1911 is my favorite by far. Have always been partial to 1911's and the 10mm is no exception.

I only have the one 1911 but as it pertains to the 10mm so far:

Much to my shock my DW is the tightest chamber I own. I think this rears it's ugly head some in ammo issues with not feeding properly. It's my most accurate 10mm the best I can tell but also has the most muzzle flip. The front is lighter than any of the others would be my guess. These reasons leave me wondering whether to put a full-length guide rod in it for front weight plus maybe a flat bottom firing pin block or let it set sail.

I beat ya then!  ;) I have 2 tens in a 1911 platform. As a matter of fact, I only have one .45 in a 1911.

Yup! I really want to see how a 1911 holds up to hot stuff for 1000's of rounds!

And this should be different from let's say a Glock, exactly how?
