We have been looking at Buffalo Bore. What is this and also Double Tap

   Box is labeled Gold Dot 180. Auction reflects the same but it's clearly a Montana Gold and what's up with the brass colored primers on the Double Tap ammo? I haven't seen that before!

Looks like buffalo bore is not only loading whatever bullets they can find available but double tap in similar fashion is loading whatever primers they can find since that and the powder are the only things they don't manufacture on their rounds.

BB really needs to spend the money to redo their printing. The color overlays can cost a bit, but someone could beat him up over misleading product labeling. That could cost more.

That happened years ago already, when McNett swapped out Gold Dots for Montana Golds, and the first anyone found out about it was after it arrived at their home and they inspected it.  One of the major reason some of us have zero use for DT ever again no matter what they offer or change.

The brass primers are probably winchester.  Nothing really wrong with them.  I have popped lots of them over the years.

Winchester primers are no less capable since they ditched the plating, in my experience.  However, most of the "Eastern Bloc" primers are also bare brass.  They are less expensive and more available (especially these days) than the domestics.  I'm about 1,000 into some Wolf NCLP (Non-Corrosive Large Pistol) I picked up, and they have been as good as any, so far.  They are bare brass.

Here are two batches if double tap that turned me into a FORMER customer. One is some 200gr lead and the other is the replacement hollow points they sent when I complained about the hard casts.


Someone tried to make me feel better by suggesting Double Tap included free caviar down in the hollow points, but I'm skeptical.

Those double taps look like crap. What is wrong with his mold? Glad I cancelled my order.

They were very poorly cast, either cold mold or dirty oily contaminated mold...   It is all of them not just one or two!
From a quality control stand point those should never have been allowed to leave the box to be loaded.  They should have never been placed in a box to be sent to DT either.

Some companies re-polish the loaded rounds to clean them and debris does get stuck inside the HP cavities.  Not sure whats in that one.

I have used Wolf primers before as well. Popped about 2000 or them with nary a fault.

Dang.  I had no use for Double Tap already.  Now after seeing those pics I like them even less, if that's possible.  It's been years since they got any of my business and I'm not seeing that ever changing.  That's just sad.

DT specs are wildly inflated as has been proven by many on here and their components look like they loaded the hollow points with sand and the Hard Cast were made by a blacksmith. must have taken some time to pound out 50 of those high quality cast bullets. I have some Buffalo Bore Hard Cast and they are as smooth as an all copper bullet. It is amazing just how slick they are.They are high in price though.I think I paid 40.00 for 20 or something close. Maybe 35 for 20 but you get the picture.Buffalo Bore if you read their articles will rell you they do not get advertised speed out of their bullets especially the all copper ones. Double Taps claims high fps and then claims more after testing yet when guys on here test they are down 200-300 fps. That is just false advertisement.

The whole thing with DT, is simple for me. If you are lying and misleading people about velocity, what esle is going on that they are not being honest enough. I was going to buy DT when I first got my 10mm, thanks to this site, I found Underwood and most satisfied.

I will also say that I would give most manufactures a 50-75fps break on listed velocities. Plenty of things can be different in their testing and my world, but again with Underwood, I don't really have to worry much.
