1 (12.5%)
180 grain
5 (62.5%)
200 grain

Like everything, always more to learn. One thing I've seen with 10mm vs other firearms and hand / reloading is the desire to push for highest velocities more than any other caliber I've ever dealt with. I'm pretty basic in my approach looking for top 1/4 load data velocities but most importantly for me is accuracy, be that a rifle or handgun. In 10mm I'm happy if i can get ballpark of 1150-1200fps from 200gr. and 1250-1300 from 180 grain. currently a couple of the loads I've found are for my pistol but not recommended for anyone else.

180 XTP 9.0 Longshot
180 coated cast 8.4 longshot
200 WFN-GC  12.5   A#9
200 XTP     12.7  A#9
200 XTP    longshot  TBD?

I'm going to attempt to post picture of the 180 xtps and 180 cast coated. 25 yards off hand at an indoor range a guy i know from old Marine corps days manages. It was a rain day so had to shoot someplace indoors.

Ok so without some kinda 3rd party photo bucket etc. cant post the pics as an attachment here, sorry. 180 xtp's were 4 touching and 1 about 1" off the 4. The 5  180 cast coated were about an 1 1/2 with 1 i tossed. ugh. pretty much the same with the WFN-GC also.

don't feel rained on. I can't post pictures here either.
as far as the push for velocity in the 10mm, for me anyway he 10mm is magnum revolver performance in a semi auto handgun.

Evening Huntchick, I understand you would like to avoid using 3 party methods to shrink photos that work on this forum, but give this a try if you like, it seem complicated, but it?s really not, plus it?s free. Go to https://postimages.org Once there, click on / select the drop down ?Do Not Resize This Image?, which will give you several options, choose 640 x 480 (For Message Boards) leave the box below ?No Expiration? as is unless you feel the need to change it. Now, click / select ?Choose Images? you will be given 3 options. On my mobile device, I choose ?Photo Library? and your pictures folder will appear. Now tap / click your desired photo and an ?Add button, will appear, tap / click.Add. Once selected, you will have 9 options, click on the very far right  of the 3ed from the bottom ?Hot link for Forums? when you click that, the word ?copy? will appear in blue, now, click / touch a blank area in the post you are creating or responding to, and  select paste, at that point, your photo URL will appear in your post / reply post

Little rain never hurts. sometimes helps. LoL.
I may try your advise Kenk. It does seem bit drawn out process and I'm not exactly Bill Gates daughter or anything when comes to computers. Ill look into it though. Thanks.

Huntchick there is usually some kind of photo editor included in the base OS of your device. No need to resort to a third party app.

Assuming you are using Windows:  https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/edit-photos-and-videos-in-windows-a3a6e711-1b70-250a-93fa-ef99048a2c86

If you are using MacOS you can use the Preview app in the Applications folder.

If you are on mobile device, the included Photos application usually includes the ability to do basic cropping and resizing.

Hope this helps.

Thanks appreciate it. Ill see what i can do when i get a chance.

Test load I shot out of my Hi Point 10 MM carbine this past weekend, hit the load on the first try.

Nice job. It?s evident your a better shot than I am, but with my 1095TS, 2-3? groups at say 30 yards are constant using 180gr XTP?s and 10.4gr Blue Dot

I know that the common consensus is fat and slow.  And I'm good with that.  Most of the time, I'm shooting 175 Lee (hard) cast or 180 gr jacketed.

But with that said, the load that I worked up for deer hunting in mind, I use the 155 gr because it is nothing short of amazing.  I'm using the no. 9 powder, 155 hornady xtp and in my gun (carbine barrel) and it's just impressive to me.

I'm getting around 1770 fps out of them.  That's a whopping 1078 foot pounds of energy.  That's more energy at the muzzle than a 223 at 2950 fps.

Also, I don't hunt long ranges.  Most of the shots that I would see are within 50'ish yards or less.  With any luck, half of that from my tree stand.  So I'm not worried as much about bullet drop or energy loss at long ranges.  The increased velocity and energy out of my barrel makes up for it in my opinion.

Compared to 180 gr bullets which can get around 1550 fps out of my barrel.  And 960 ftlbs of energy at the muzzle.  neither loads are wimpy or skimpy.

While some claim they'd never use less than 180 gr bullet to hunt with, realistically, that 155 bullet is only .057th of an ounce lighter.  Yep.  You read that right.  Well less than the weight of a modern dime.

If anyone would like to claim that an animal is really going to know the difference between the two, at the distances that I tend to shoot, that's going to be a very interesting conversation that we can have about it.

My camping loads are generally 175 gr hardcast though.  Mostly for big bears.  Big cats.  Sasquatch.  Haints.

I hear ya John A.  Hornady makes great bullets for the 10mm/40 cal.
There are some Barnes TAX-XP that would do some good work as well.

I really need to get my new Bear Creek Arsenal 10mm carbine out and run some various ammo through it to see how things work out!  It's a neat carbine with a 16" BBL

Yeah, that's why I wanted the carbine. The one I made is light.  Makes for a dandy woods and brush gun.

The 10mm can really shine with a 16" barrel with the right powder and bullet choice.

Realistically, I like the hardcast better due to the whole "two holes are better than one" that many don't get while using HP's, but if it's not broke.....

I run a Mechtech upper on my Glock 20 and the accuracy is astounding with 200 grain WFN GC PC Cast bullets. But as far as XTP in the 10 lighter and faster is what I prefer. That said the cost on these projectiles is ridiculous. This is why I cast my own and load my own. When you run a WFN hard it doesn't need to expand I have taken many deer with this combination with great success. Handguns and the XTP though light weight drive them hard.
