Any thoughts on Inexpensive Sabot Slugs (if there is such a thing) for sight-in and practice? I found some Brenneke SL122TOP TOPAS 12 Gauge 2.75" 309 GR Sabot Slugs, 5 rds for $4.95, but am not finding a lot on reviews
Thanks

I used some Brenneke slugs in my Savage 220 for sight in. They were not sabot but the box said good for smooth and rifled barrels. They were accurate but when I switched to fine tune with Browning Sabots, my point of aim was way off. But I have never had any accuracy issues with Brenneke in 12 or 20 gauge. I think you would need to try a box and then compare them to the slugs you will use for hunting. Hopefully your hits wont be to far off. If you have difficulty finding sabots let me know. I wont be using my 12 gauge anytime soon now that I have the Savage bolt action 20 gauge. I have 12 gauge slugs.

Ken I have a few factory 12ga slugs but I started casting & loading the Lyman 525 grain slugs as this was just because of the political unknowns.

The come out a little likeht as cast with wheel weight alloy.

To load them I use 12 ga wads I had and modified for the purpose.  The wad needs to be smooth on the inside the cup.
They have shot well from my 870 with a rifle sighted 20" smooth bore barrel

Thanks guys, I?m just trying to avoid using a bunch of the fancy expensive ones until deer season next fall, plus I enjoy shooting slugs, but not at 2-3 per rd unless there?s I big critter, then it?s fine
